🌿 Contemporary outdoor living, designed for the WA lifestyle.

This Woodvale landscape brings together clean architectural finishes, layered planting and carefully considered outdoor spaces to create a garden that feels both refined and relaxed.

One of our favourite features is the custom curved built-in seat at the rear — wrapping around the garden bed to create an inviting place to sit, unwind and enjoy the pool area. The warm timber detailing and integrated lighting transform it into a real feature after dark, while the planting rises behind it to create a lush, private backdrop.

🌴 The planting palette combines bold architectural and subtropical forms with hardy, textural species, including Dragon Tree, Coral Bells, Giant Birds of Paradise, Cordyline, Agave, New Zealand Rock Lily, grasses and soft cascading groundcovers. The result is a layered garden with plenty of contrast in foliage, colour and form while complementing the home's contemporary coastal character.

From the crisp white finishes and timber-look screening to the pool, feature planting and warm evening lighting, every element has been designed to work together as one cohesive outdoor space.

Contemporary Landscape Design | Traralgon, VIC 🌿

A refined, contemporary landscape designed to complement the architecture of this Traralgon home while creating a lush, practical garden for everyday family living.

The design combines flowing, organically shaped garden beds with structured screening, feature trees and layered planting to soften the strong architectural lines of the dwelling. Silver travertine creates a consistent material connection from the front entry through to the rear alfresco, while exposed aggregate concrete, Corten steel and timber batten detailing introduce texture, warmth and contrast.

At the front, feature trees and carefully layered planting create a welcoming street presence, while the backyard maintains a generous open lawn framed by screening trees and lush perimeter planting for privacy. Stepping pads, concealed utility areas and integrated garden storage ensure the landscape remains as functional as it is beautiful.

A cohesive garden designed to feel established, elegant and inviting from every angle. 🌱✨

A backyard designed around what was already worth keeping 🌿

For this Traralgon project, the goal was to create a garden that feels established, elegant and highly usable, while making the existing mature tree a real feature rather than an obstacle.

The design introduces a generous timber deck and pergola for outdoor dining and entertaining, with the tree carefully integrated through the deck to give the space a strong sense of character and connection to the garden. Layered planting, structured hedging, hydrangeas, magnolias, jasmine and soft ornamental grasses create a lush but refined garden palette.

Across the rest of the property, bluestone stepping stones, brick-edged garden beds, exposed aggregate paving, new retaining elements and carefully positioned screening help tie the different areas together into one cohesive landscape.

And once the sun goes down, subtle landscape lighting completely changes the atmosphere — turning the deck and garden into a warm, inviting outdoor space for evening entertaining.

🌿 Landscape Design – VIC 🌿

Here’s a 3D flythrough of one of our residential landscape designs, created to bring together structure, greenery and relaxed outdoor living.

The design combines a more refined front garden with a softer, inviting backyard, featuring curved lawn areas, Corten steel edging, vegetable gardens, ornamental trees and beautifully defined planting zones.

🔥 One of our favourite features is the secluded firepit retreat, finished with gravel/river pebbles, bluestone stepping stones and a curved timber sleeper screen to create a cosy destination within the garden.

🌱 The backyard also incorporates raised vegetable gardens, generous lawn, privacy planting and feature trees, while the planting palette introduces Birch trees, Lilly Pilly, Hydrangea, Daphne, Magnolia, White Crepe Myrtle and a Dwarf Red Flowering Gum for year-round interest.

A blank canvas for a brand-new home in 🌿

With no existing landscape to work around, this project gave us the opportunity to design the outdoor spaces from the ground up and create a landscape that feels like it has always belonged with the architecture.

At the front, off-white rendered terraces, layered planting, a feature pot and clean architectural lines create a welcoming first impression. Around the sides of the home, planting, screening and feature elements turn what could have been simple accessways into attractive garden spaces in their own right.

The backyard continues the design with a louvred pergola, extended outdoor living area, raised planting and a dedicated fire-pit retreat — giving the new home a relaxed and established outdoor environment from day one.

What started as an empty site is now a complete landscape designed to connect the house, garden and outdoor living spaces as one cohesive home.

A steep site can be a challenge — but it can also become one of the strongest features of a landscape design.

For this project, we embraced the natural fall of the property and transformed the front garden into a series of clean, architectural terraces that step down toward the street.

At the centre is a shallow reflective pond with a sculptural water feature, carefully positioned between the large front windows so it becomes a focal point not only from the street, but also from inside the home.

Curved rendered walls soften the strong geometry of the architecture, while vertical black steel fencing, exposed aggregate concrete and layered planting create a contemporary frontage with plenty of depth and texture.

As you move around the home, the landscape gradually becomes softer and more relaxed — with a semi-sunken spa terrace, decorative screening, floating concrete steps, organic stepping stones through the lawn and a corten-edged fire-pit area with timber seating.

The planting continues the architectural feel with a mix of palms, cycads, agaves, bamboo, silver foliage, cascading groundcovers and structured screening plants.

A project where the levels, architecture, materials and planting all work together to create one connected landscape from front to back.

One of the most rewarding parts of landscape design is seeing an idea move from a drawing and 3D visualization into a real garden. 🌿

For this Traralgon project, we are sharing a few of our original pre-construction renders alongside photos of the completed landscape. It’s fantastic to see the floating paving, structured planting, outdoor entertaining areas and fire-pit space taking shape almost exactly as they were originally designed.

Another one from the Luxescape archives that I still absolutely love. 🌴✨

This project was a substantial backyard transformation, designed to feel more like a private resort than a traditional suburban garden.

The centrepiece is the striking butterfly-roof cabana, creating generous dining and lounging spaces around a double-sided fireplace. From there, the design flows out toward the swimming pool, sunbathing terrace, outdoor shower, firepit retreat and fully equipped outdoor kitchen.

A big part of what makes this design work is the layering of materials — warm decking by Nexgen Decking Melbourne, natural stone by Splendour in Stone , crisp white architecture, dark fencing and lush architectural planting, all tied together by the existing mature palms.

The outdoor kitchen incorporates a built-in Tucker Barbecues , while the outdoor living spaces were designed around beautiful contemporary pieces from Tait . The private outdoor shower zone is softened with timber batten screening from Screening Solutions , paired with an outdoor shower solution from Reece Bathrooms

The broader palette also brings in COLORBOND steel silver travertine, bluestone, corten steel edging and Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn by Lawn Solutions Australia to create a garden that feels polished, established and cohesive from every angle.

There’s something incredibly special about designing for a wide, open rural property like this one in With so much space around the home, the challenge isn’t to fill it — it’s to create strong, purposeful landscape moments while still preserving that beautiful sense of openness.

For this design, we developed a series of connected outdoor zones that sit comfortably within the rural setting. The architecture is bold and contemporary, so the landscape responds with a mix of structured planting, natural stone, timber, corten steel and generous lawn areas.

At the front, the circular driveway wraps around a large feature tree set within a corten steel ring, crushed bluestone and ornamental granite rocks, creating a strong arrival point without feeling overly formal. Further into the property, three raised corten steel planting rings become sculptural elements within the lawn, with ornamental trees and contrasting planting.

Around the home, planting has been designed to soften the dark cladding and stonework, while timber posts and layered garden beds help connect the architecture back into the landscape.

The backyard becomes the main entertaining zone, with a Narellan Pools Australia Symphony 11 swimming pool, Capri White limestone paving, a Nexgen Decking Melbourne composite sun deck, glass pool fencing and an alfresco area finished in honed bluestone.
Beyond the pool, a dedicated fire pit area surrounded by lush planting creates a more intimate place to sit within the much larger landscape. There are also fruit trees, vegetable gardens and practical screening integrated into the overall design so the property still functions as a true rural home, not simply a show garden.

The result is a landscape that feels spacious, grounded and connected to its rural surroundings, while still delivering all the comfort and refinement of a contemporary resort-style garden.

A beautiful example of how a large property can remain open and expansive while still feeling thoughtfully designed. 🌿
