Meet Beau – our new Sprinkler Fitter!

We’re excited to welcome Beau to the FCF Fire & Electrical team.

You might know what an electrician does… but what about a sprinkler fitter? 🤔

Sprinkler fitters work with the systems designed to control and suppress fires — including fire sprinkler systems, hydrants, pumps, valves and associated equipment. Their job includes installing, servicing, testing and maintaining these systems to make sure they’re ready to operate when needed.

Here’s Beau on the job, completing service documentation and repairing a stop solenoid as part of a fire pump system service. 🔧🔥

Having Beau on board expands our in-house capabilities and means we can provide even more of our clients’ fire protection requirements under the one roof.

There’s plenty happening behind the scenes before a new facility like this is ready to open — and fire detection is one of those important systems you definitely want done right.

Project Update | Caboolture Sports Club

Exciting things are happening at Caboolture Sports Club, and we’re proud to be part of it.

Our team is currently installing a new fire detection system as part of the club’s renovation, helping ensure the upgraded facility is protected with a modern, reliable fire detection solution.

Projects like this involve much more than what you see on the surface. From planning and installation through to testing and commissioning, every stage is completed to help keep the building safe for staff, members and visitors.

Do you know where to go if the fire alarm sounds?

An evacuation diagram isn’t just another poster on the wall—it’s there to help people get out safely if there’s ever an emergency.

A good evacuation diagram should clearly show:
✅ Where you are
✅ The nearest exit
✅ Your evacuation route
✅ The assembly area
✅ The location of fire safety equipment

Over time, buildings change. Walls are moved, exits are altered, offices are renovated, or fire equipment is relocated. When that happens, the evacuation diagrams should be updated too.

We’ve recently been replacing older evacuation diagrams with new, clear and easy-to-read versions, giving staff and visitors confidence that the information they’re relying on is accurate.

If it’s been years since you’ve looked at your evacuation diagrams, it might be worth asking yourself…

Fire pumps play a critical role in supplying water to fire protection systems when they’re needed most.

As part of an AS 1851 inspection, our technicians carry out operational testing and servicing to confirm the system is functioning correctly and identify any issues before they become major problems.

🚨 So, what does a fire indicator panel actually do?

You’ve probably walked past one in a shopping centre, hotel, apartment building or workplace without giving it much thought.

A fire indicator panel is basically the control centre for a building’s fire detection system.

If a smoke detector, heat detector or another connected device is activated, the panel receives that signal and shows where the alarm has come from. This helps building staff and emergency services quickly identify the affected area.

Depending on the building and how the system has been designed, the panel may also:

* Sound the building alarms
* Alert a monitoring service or the fire brigade
* Release fire doors
* Control smoke exhaust or ventilation systems
* Activate other connected fire-safety equipment

Not every property requires a fire panel, but they’re commonly found in larger buildings such as hotels, apartment complexes, schools, shopping centres, offices and industrial sites.

Most people will hopefully never need to see one responding to a real fire. But when something does go wrong, it plays a very important role in helping protect the people inside.

Fire panels also need regular testing and maintenance to make sure they’re working correctly when they’re needed most.
