The Australian's annual Green List celebrates the powerbrokers in the power sector; those committed to making a difference as Australia decarbonises the economy.

David developed some of Australia’s first wind farms. He was an originator of the world’s largest solar and battery project proposal in SunCable as co-founder and CEO. Now, he is rapidly scaling 5B’s pipeline, including delivering our largest project to date - 69MW in Puerto Rico for AES.

Inspiring to see different stakeholders Reece Whitby MLA and Zenith Energy au coming together at Liontown to celebrate the role that miners are playing in decarbonising the state of Western Australia at the official opening of Australia’s largest operating off-grid power system.

This market-leading hybrid power system is powered by 16MW of 5B Maverick solar, showcasing the ability of renewables to deliver reliable, continuous supply to the mining and industrial sector.

Beyond the Liontown Kathleen Valley project, 5B is working with Zenith on another energy transition milestone underway at Bellevue Gold, where Zenith is delivering Australia’s highest renewable energy fraction off-grid power system to provide a minimum 80% emissions free energy solution.

Together with Zenith, 5B’s Maverick solar solution is also powering IGO’s Nova Operations, Northern Star Resources’ Jundee operations, as well as other critical mineral projects in WA.

5B’s David Griffin and Ron Hall toured Zenith Energy's hybrid power system at the Bellevue Gold site last month.

With 528 5B Mavericks installed, 5B’s solar solution is contributing over 26MW to the 88MW hybrid power station. The project is set to become Australia's leading off-grid power solution with the highest renewable energy fraction.

The Better Futures Australia Forum 2024 has wrapped up, and what an event it was. 5B's Chief of Staff, Alice Lang, joined the panel to share our journey in scaling up solar solutions with speed and solidarity, drawing on over a decade of work in remote communities.

Alice discussed the impact of the 5B Maverick technology, which continues to power remote communities like Marlinja, Wurrumiyanga on the Tiwi Islands, as well as Timber Creek and Borroloola in the Northern Territory. The Borroloola solar farm, still standing strong after withstanding three cyclones, showcased the resilience of our wind-rated 5B Maverick systems, engineered for the toughest conditions.

When it comes to making the sustainable energy transition equitable, the 5B Maverick can make it more straightforward to deploy in places where resources can be tight and access can be challenging.

5B’s low ground-penetrating technology is also helping mining and industrial clients meet decarbonisation goals by deploying solar on pre-disturbed sites, proving that solar can deliver more without expanding footprints.
