Honouring Peter Swan
Some people leave a mark on a profession that lasts well beyond their career. Peter Swan was one of those people.
Peter’s influence can be seen throughout the surveying profession, not just in the organisations he helped shape or the recognition he received, but in the countless surveyors who were better at their job because of his guidance, knowledge and generosity.
We have spoken with many surveyors over the years who have a Peter Swan story. Whether it was advice freely given, a difficult problem patiently explained, or a lesson that stayed with them throughout their career, Peter had a way of helping people without ever seeking recognition for it.
The profession has lost one of its great contributors, but his impact will continue to be felt for many years through the people he mentored and the standards he helped establish.
From all of us at ONF Surveyors, thank you, Peter. Your contribution to surveying will not be forgotten.
Our sincere condolences go to Peter’s family, friends and colleagues. We hope they take comfort in knowing the profound impact he had on both the profession he loved and the many people fortunate enough to learn from him.
