From Our 2nd Work Ute in 1995 to
Our 6th in December 2025
Recently, as we welcomed our sixth work ute into the Hancock Pest Control fleet, I found myself reflecting on where it all began.
Back in 1995, I purchased what was then our second work vehicle—a Mitsubishi utility that cost just $5,000. The gentleman I purchased it from had recently rebuilt the engine, and I was excited to be on my way home from Sydney with what I hoped would be a reliable work vehicle to help grow the business.
However, as I was driving through the Somersby interchange, I suddenly noticed the temperature gauge climb rapidly. I pulled over immediately, but unfortunately the engine had already suffered catastrophic damage and completely seized. It was later discovered that metal filings from the engine rebuild had not been adequately removed, causing internal damage that led to overheating long before there was any warning.
At the time, it felt like a major setback. Yet looking back now, it was simply one of many challenges, lessons, and experiences that helped shape the business into what it is today.
From those humble beginnings to the purchase of our sixth work ute (Which was still in use up until about five years ago so we got 25 years out of the good old Toyota. Sold it to a farmer. Finally enough a very first car I bought was from a farmer an old HT Holden with a large dent in the rear passenger door) in December 2025, we have been richly blessed.
Over the past three decades, there have been many ups and downs, long days, difficult decisions, and unexpected obstacles. Yet through it all, we have been sustained by the support of loyal clients, wonderful friends, family members, dedicated team members, and a community that has continued to place its trust in us.
Most importantly, I acknowledge with gratitude a kind and loving Father in Heaven who has watched over us and cared for us throughout this entire journey. There have been many occasions when things could have gone differently, yet time and again doors have opened, opportunities have arisen, and help has come when it was needed most.
We recognise that all things ultimately belong to Him and that every blessing we enjoy comes from His generous hand. We are deeply grateful for His guidance, protection, and tender mercies over these many years.
To our valued clients, thank you for your trust and support. Many of you have been with us for years, recommending us to family and friends and allowing us the privilege of protecting your homes, businesses, and investments.
As we look to the future, we do so with grateful hearts, thankful for where we started, appreciative of how far we have come, and mindful of the many blessings that have made the journey possible.
Thank you for being part of our story.
