This one cladode has a bud on pretty much every cladode. I count 15! However, I'll be lucky to get one flower! Fingers crossed 🤞.

Good morning everyone! Happy Father's day to our male members.
As the weather is heating up and quite quickly it seems, I thought that I would speak a little on the subject of buds on our epis.
This is mainly for our newest followers that are still learning about these amazing plants.
Aerolas are the little white fluffy things that form in the crevices of the cladodes (stems) of our epi plants. This is where the buds form.
If you look closely, you might notice some of these fluff balls have more of a tiny red point instead, these are the actual buds beginning.
Not all aerola will produce buds in a season. On the other hand there might be a prolific amount of buds. But don't be surprised if a lot of these buds drop off before flowering as it takes a lot of energy for a plant to produce flowers and by aborting some it can focus on the remaining buds.
If you are growing new epis from a cutting, and you notice that buds appear it is recommended that you pinch them off .
As exciting as is it to see the buds, if left to bloom they will take all the goodness from the cutting and you will possibly lose the cutting.

Hi everyone ☺️. Well not long now until we have some gorgeous Epiphyllum pictures to show you. First up will be our South Pacific epis which are loaded with buds, followed by some Kiwi's.
