Kempster Commercial Refrigeration (KCR) is a proud Mackay (locally owned and operated) organisation. Established for 45 years, KCR serve a well-established client base in the Mackay-Whitsunday and Coalfield areas. Our core business is commercial refrigeration and air conditioning in supermarkets, cold stores, clubs, commercial enterprises and coal facilities.



We are currently seeking two (2) Refrigeration / Air Conditioning Mechanics or dual trade Electrician to join our team. Third and Fourth Year apprentices will also be considered. The positions are:

Port HVACR Service Mechanic; and
Service HVACR Mechanic (town based).


The successful applicants will be servicing a wide range of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipment. This job would well be suited to a mechanic that is well versed in the air conditioning installation segment of the trade and would like to gain experience in supermarket refrigeration.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful applicant must have:

Current and Valid:

Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCtick);
Trade Certification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or working towards);
Restricted Electrical Licence (as a minimum);
Construction White Card;
Motor Vehicle licence (able to drive a manual vehicle); and
Australian Residency or Current Work Visa
of advantage would be:

Air Conditioning installation and repair experience;
BMS experience;
BMA Core Induction or Standard 11 Coal Surface Induction; and
Mine site experience
and

Strong self-motivation and an ability to work well unsupervised;
Good communication & customer service skills;
Good work ethics;
Be well presented and take pride in their work; and
Commercial air conditioning experience required.


These positions are Permanent:

Service HVACR Mechanic (town based) - we offer flexible hours, overtime, RDOs and a rotating Afterhours Roster
Port HVACR Service Mechanic – 4/2 and 4/4 roster (every second weekend is a four day weekend!).


We provide:

Competitive renumeration with regular reviews;
Your choice of RDOs or Overtime;
Mine site work attracts an additional $20 per hour Site Allowance on top of your base rate plus overtime. All travel is paid at full rates;
Port site work attracts an additional allowance of $50 per day and an additional $2.50 per hour;
Tool and phone allowances;
On going training and support - all training and site licences paid for by KCR (inc LVR / CPR, W@H & CS);
Relocation assistance is available; and
$2000 “Refer a Mate” Bonus.

Act as the primary client contact, ensuring prompt and professional service.
Manage small and medium-sized service delivery from initial inquiry (quoting) to completion.
Schedule and dispatch service mechanics to maximise productivity and efficiency.
Assist in diagnostic and fault-finding
Handle inquiries and requests accurately and promptly.
Follow up on completed work, and address any concerns or feedback.
Prepare quotes, accurately assessing client needs and offering competitive pricing.
Review and approve completed jobs for invoicing, ensuring accuracy.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Manage and mentor our team of mechanics and apprentices.


To Succeed in this role you'll have:

White card and driver’s licence.
Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, focused on building rapport with clients and colleagues.
Leadership qualities, able to motivate and support team members.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Provide a high level of customer service.
Flexible and adaptable, committed to delivering exceptional service.
HVAC&R Trade qualifications and Arctick Licence will be an advantage.
We are also open to the right person looking to transition from the tools to a management position.
