The Roma cherry tomatoes are looking and tasting Amazing this year!!! But the normal Romas are not to good 🤷‍♀️ can’t win them all I suppose.

Hi gardeners!! I’m back and I will say the garden is not doing so good. A lot of the beans and snow peas are fallen down...

Hi gardeners!! I’m back and I will say the garden is not doing so good. A lot of the beans and snow peas are fallen down and not kept up with the harvest so it makes the plant think it’s finished and then dies. The zucchini and squash are dying, the cucumber are dead and finished. The lettuce has bolted. 😭 oh well. I did find a cabbage that the grubs had only eaten half way through. Some leftover beans and some giant beetroot. Also the celery is looking good and I have some capsicums and lovely herbs And some tomatoes are ready and the cherry Roma are just starting to ripen. The bananas are starting to look amazing. 😊👍🥂 not all doom and gloom. 😂
Next I’ll be pulling up the old finished crops and getting some beds ready for corn melons and snake beans. 🌻🍉🫛🙌

AUGUST: planting seeds: cucumber sweet potato corn zucchini.

Do you know about crop rotation???
Basically is just not putting the same thing in the same place every year. Why because different vegetables need different nutrients they take from the soil so you need to mix it up a bit…. And disease stays dormant in the soil for up to 3 years!!! 😳 I know right!!!!
So if you plant tomatoes in the same place every year and they did well the first year and have’t done well since… this is probably why🤔. Or any veg for that matter.
I follow this method with a basic rule of

1. legumes- peas and beans- actually replace the nitrogen in the soil

2. Leaves-lettuce greens brocoli kale- need high nitrogen

3. Fruits- tomatoes peppers capsicum squash cucumbers- need a bit of all nutrients. Nitrogen phosphorus and potassium

4. Roots- carrots radish beets garlic onion - needs potassium to grow large roots. BIG BEETROOTS 😜
