Today we had representatives of the Premier Chris Minns, a current councillor plus a candidate, in the up-coming Council elections, attend the Chivers Hill Shopping Village to discuss the provision of the public amenities. We thank, Cherie Burton, Cheryl Han , Ash Ambihaipahar and Elaina Anzellotti for their time and interest.
Howard Courtney and I ran-through the proposal and suggested location for amenities. Yesterday afternoon, he and I pegged-out the amenities to clarify where they could be located and how much space they would occupy.
There was encouraging interest shown by all and support from the Premier's Office for this to happen.
We however, will continue to pressure Council to approve this now and not wait until the elections.
A representative of the Lugarno Progress Association (LPA) rejected the proposed location and suggested that it be located somewhere around the back. Several issues with this, security, access from the wheelchair car spaces, a 'dignified' path of travel for those in a wheelchair and would be at an unacceptable distance for those at the other end of the Shopping Village. Additionally, there is NO public land anywhere else. It must also be noted that the LPA has previously rejected the provision of the amenities.
On a rather disappointing note, someone had kicked-out the pegs which Howard and myself placed in an example of childish and anti-community behavior. SHAME ON YOU. I should remind you that there are security cameras at both ends of the carpark which you will appear on. I have replaced them.
Anyway, we will continue to push for these needed amenities to be provided.
Have a good weekend
