Here are some handy tips to help you in preparation for severe storms. With the predicted high winds and heavy rain forecasted for this week, preparation BEFORE the storm hits is essential ⛈️

HOW TO PREPARE
🌀Check and balance your pools chemicals. A well balanced pool will better withstand the dilution effect of heavy rainfall.

🌀Remove all pool toys and any other loose objects, place in a secure location indoors.

🌀Secure pool covers to prevent damage from high winds and debris. We recommend to roll the cover up and storing the cover in a secure location

🌀Turn off the power. To protect your pool equipment from possible electrical surges, turn off the power to your equipment at the circuit breaker before the storm strikes.

🌀 Use waterproof plastic to cover and protect exposed equipment from heavy rainfall and debris.

🌀 Trim back any branches from nearby trees that could potentially fall into the pool

🌀Clear gutters from debris to prevent water overflow

🌀 DO NOT drain the pool water. Some may think this method will prevent your pool from flooding or overflowing. But this can actually course signification damage for fibreglass pools. The water acts like a weight for the pool shell, and is less likely to pop out of the ground when water levels are kept to the recommended level.

POST STORM CLEANUP
After the storm has passed, it’s likely your pool will need some attention.

🌤 Check for damage before turning power back on.

🌤 Remove any debris if safe to do so

🌤 Check for any damage from branches etc such as any cracks. Consult a professional if damage has been found

🌤 Check and clean filters and baskets

🌤 Test and balance your pool water ASAP to prevent your pool from going green and bacteria and algae from growing. Your pool may need to be shocked to fight of any contamination the rain may have brought into the pool.

We hope everyone had a great Christmas and are safe!
Our thoughts are with those that have been affected by the recent storms.
If your pool has been affected in anyway, whether it's been flooded or you have no power and not too sure what to do please give us a call, we're happy to give advice over the phone or arrange to come out (if you have power).

We are one of the lucky ones to still have power. Please reach out if there is anything we can do to help. Whether it be charging electronics, boiling water/ sterilising bottles for babies, or simply just offer a cup of coffee and some company out of the heat. We're opening up our home to our neighbours affected so please don't hesitate to message us during this difficult time as we couldn't imagine going without power for this long especially in this heat.
