We asked ChatGPT to create imagery illustrating what is happening below the surface before and after a lawn renovation. It’s pretty telling 👉

After winter, lawns can be left with excessive thatch, compacted soil, poor water pe*******on and a weakened root system. A lawn renovation tackles these issues below the surface, creating better conditions for healthy new growth.

Depending on what the lawn needs, a renovation can include scarifying, coring, topdressing and fertilising - removing unwanted material, relieving compaction and helping water, air and nutrients reach the root zone.

The result? Stronger roots, thicker growth and a healthier, more resilient lawn heading into summer.

Check out the before and after of a renovation we did on a Mt Barker job, it shows just how much difference this process makes.

I know what you’re thinking. We’ve just had enough rain to have Noah dusting off the ark, and now we’re talking about irrigation?

Give it three weeks. This is Australia. We’ll be complaining about the heat and wondering why the lawn’s gone brown before we know it.

Now is the perfect time to book your irrigation audit. Here, Brodie gives a great rundown of what’s involved.

It’s more than simply checking whether your irrigation turns on.

A full audit looks at how effectively your system is actually watering your garden, checking each zone for coverage, pressure, leaks, blocked or broken sprinklers, controller settings and areas that may be getting too much or too little water.

From there, we can identify what needs attention and put together a clear plan to get the system running efficiently again.

We’re incredibly excited to be heading back to the Royal Adelaide Show this year. In this vid, the team reflected on their favourite elements from last year’s AHLG designed and constructed garden.

After taking out Best Feature Garden in 2025 with The Better Life, part of the prize was the opportunity to return this year and create an even larger Feature Garden in the Goyder Pavilion.

Last year we worked within a 3m x 6m footprint. This year, we’ve got 6m x 6m to bring to life, and our team has some pretty exciting plans for the extra space.

Expect beautiful hardscaping, flourishing planting, considered lighting and a few special features we’re keeping under wraps for now.

The Royal Adelaide Show is an iconic South Australian event and we’re proud to once again have the opportunity to showcase what our team loves to do - crafting landscapes that make life better.

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

BEFORE 👉 AFTER
From a blank canvas to a finished landscape designed for the whole family, our team took care of everything from the complete landscape design, site preparation through to the construction and finishing touches.

Out front, we delivered a rendered retaining wall, Titanium 7mm exposed aggregate driveway and steps, Kikuyu lawn, automated irrigation, steel edging and new planting.

Out back, the transformation included concrete sleeper retaining walls, fencing, Kikuyu lawn, automated irrigation, side gates and a custom Carey Gully sandstone sandpit. But, maybe the most exciting part is the concrete bike track loop for the kids. Amazing!

A functional, family-friendly outdoor area with plenty of room to enjoy for years to come.

We’ve worked closely with representatives of the Rose Society of South Australia Inc. (RSSA) at Government House, combining their incredible knowledge of roses with our team’s experience in garden care.

The RSSA has been promoting the cultivation and appreciation of roses in South Australia for well over a century. Through meetings, shows, demonstrations and education, their members continue to share an enormous amount of knowledge with rose growers across the state.

At Government House, that expertise is helping breathe new life into one of South Australia’s iconic rose gardens. The RSSA initially helped establish the Governors’ rose garden in 2019, in conjunction with staff. Private contractors were assigned to curate thereafter, with RSSA assigned yearly pruning of these.

Over the past six months, the RSSA representatives have been remediating the third rose bed, working alongside our team to prepare for its next chapter. Around 70 Australian-bred roses are set to be planted, including varieties bred right here in South Australia.

There’s been plenty happening below the surface. Together, we’ve worked on improving the growing conditions through new irrigation, a green manure crop, organic matter supplied by Neutrog, and a no-dig approach to prepare the beds for planting.

For us, one of the highlights of working at Government House is the opportunity to collaborate with people who genuinely care about the gardens and their history.

The RSSA brings generations of knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to the table, and we’re proud to play our part alongside them in bringing this important garden back to its former glory.

A great partnership, and one we’re looking forward to seeing in full bloom.

Timbo and the team are underway on a large-scale irrigation project in McLaren Vale, contracted by our friends at SR Construct

The numbers behind this one:

💚 1+ kilometre of irrigation pipe
💚 99 sprinklers
💚 11 irrigation zones
💚 2.2 kW variable-speed pump
💚 5,700 m² of lawn
💚 86.5 metres of steel edging

Irrigation plan and materials: Mt. Barker Irrigation Pump Depot

Plenty of work ahead, but with views like these greeting the crew every day, there are definitely worse places to be.

Looking forward to seeing this one come together.
