We finished the labyrinth just before Christmas. The centre need some more work but it is ready to be walked.
A labyrinth is a symbolic representation of the brain and the mind. To walk a labyrinth consciously is to bring awareness to the physical brain and to the connections within it.

It is a chance and a pleasure to work with heritage materials like those bricks. They were brought in as ship ballast in the later part of the 19th century. The feel of them is subtly different from recent common bricks.
We replaced the unsafe decaying wooden and gravel steps with those bricks.
I hope we respected the material quality.
A very big thank you to the owner for trusting us, for her very valued inputs, Felix and Molly for their work. From the clay pit workers and brick makers somewhere in England over 100 years ago, the ship builders, sailors, dockers, carters, farmlands and all those who came to contribute to bring those bricks to us.
If we look at the whole chain that goes into a simple material, the beauty of it, we are duty bound to respect that material and do our utmost to create the best we can.

Second speaker took us on a creative or re-creative journey. The reuse of materials such as tiles and other discarded materials, experimenting of shapes and colours, cooperation with other creative, awareness of the carbon footprint were discussed in this lecture

Today's first speaker was David Godshall from showed up some project his team did. The emphasis on the social and environmental responsibility of our profession was very refreshing. This has been important to us for decades and hearing it from others was very satisfying. The Americans lack of social security and benefits compounds the problem
