From flood zone to forever home 🌿

Nimbin locals Gary and Linley’s house was transported by truck from flood-prone Murwillumbah to Nimbin, where its owners had visions of transforming it into a warm, natural and more sustainable home.

In April, Jazz Construction coordinated the construction of the h**pcrete walls over two days, using Australian h**p hurd, Australian lime , water and oxides.

Now finished, the natural texture of the h**pcrete brings so much warmth and character to the home.

It is a beautiful example of reuse, resilience, Australian-grown h**p and a more thoughtful way of building.

Part 2 of 3: The h**pcrete wall reveal

After two full days of mixing, placing and lightly compacting the h**pcrete, the formwork was removed and the finished walls were finally revealed.

The natural texture and warm, earthy finish give the walls so much character, but what makes this project even more special is the story behind the home itself.

Once located in flood-prone Murwillumbah the house was transported by truck to Nimbin and is now being given a new life as a more resilient forever home.

A relocated house, Australian-grown h**p and a thoughtful approach to building more sustainably.

POST 1 of 3: — THE BUILD- Building with h**p 🌿

In April, Jazz Construction coordinated the h**pcrete wall construction for this very special Nimbin home belonging to Gary & Linley.

The house itself had previously been transported by truck from Mullumbimby to its new location in Nimbin, where it is being transformed into a more resilient forever home.

Over two days, the building team constructed the h**pcrete walls using Australian h**p hurd supplied by Ashford H**p Industries and an Australian lime binder supplied by Australian H**p Masonry Company.

The h**p hurd, lime binder and water were mixed together, then placed and lightly compacted around the timber frame, one section at a time.

It was hands-on, physical work, but watching the walls take shape from natural, Australian-supplied materials was something pretty special.

A relocated home, Australian h**p and a more sustainable approach to building.

Recently finished job at Blue k**b ~ Gorgeous spotted Gum timber feature walls, fireplace, hearth and surround as well as paint.
Perfect spot for a cuppa in front of the fire on a cold winter day.

JAZZ Construction ~ Team Em, Zac and Gabs are in the midst of this walk in butler pantry build. This started with removal of a wall to make a larger space for a fridge in the kitchen, then framing up walls for the pantry, window and lighting and now we are at the tail end with fitting cabinetry.
This customer loves preserving foods. She will have lots of space when we are finished!
