Some projects come together in a way that is difficult to fully articulate.
This one did.

Charcoal. Sage green. Warm timber. Stone-toned bench tops. A palette that was considered from the first material selection to the last fitting and fixture — and one that holds together with the kind of quiet confidence that only comes from disciplined design decision-making throughout an entire build.
Every window in this home frames a view toward the South Gippsland coast and Wilsons Promontory beyond. The interior palette was built to honour that — never competing with what lies outside, always complementing it.

MDC Building Group | Lees Road, Venus Bay

An extension designed entirely around how our clients wanted to live.

A fully integrated bar featuring suspended timber and black iron shelving with adjustable strip lighting, built-in refrigeration, w**e fridge, and a marble-finish back wall and bench top that carries through to the timber ceiling above and the flooring below. Hardware and cabinetry finished to the same exacting standard as every other room in this home.

Turn around and the space opens further — a fireplace, a pool table, and a homely lounge suite that makes leaving genuinely difficult.

This is what a well-considered extension delivers. Not just additional space — an entirely new dimension to how a home is lived in.

The Flyover at Marcellin College is a 91m² gallery and elevated walkway connecting the college’s senior and junior schools.

Designed by Farrell Wray Architects, the structure wraps around a significant gum tree, with exposed off-form concrete, curved walls and arches inspired by St Marcellin Champagnat’s Hermitage in France. Every element remains on display, demanding a high level of accuracy and finish throughout construction.

Projects like this are a great example of what we enjoy most—working closely with architects to deliver complex, highly detailed buildings where quality matters.

Light, material, and view — working together.

Black window frames. Dark timber floors. A concrete base beneath a double-sided fireplace that draws the eye straight through to the treeline beyond. Wall-mounted black lights casting light upward to the ceiling and downward to the floor, framing a picture window and the landscape it holds.

Every element in this space was chosen to complement the view.

MDC Building Group | Marcellin College

Not every project is built in a straight line.
This flyover structure — concrete, steel, and curved glass — was designed around an existing Gumtree, requiring the kind of precision and adaptability that only comes from an experienced team. The curved glass panels were installed with exceptional care, demanding both technical skill and the kind of methodical teamwork that defines how MDC Building Group operates on every site.

The result is a structure that works with its environment rather than against it. Built around what was already there. Finished to the standard MDC's clients expect.
