Ground has officially broken on our latest build! 🎉

There's nothing like day one on a new site. Pegs in the ground, plans in hand, and a home about to take shape.

This one's a 2-bedroom design with open-plan living, dining and kitchen, a deck to enjoy the outdoors, and a Dutch gable roofline for a bit of extra character.

We'll be sharing progress as it comes along, stay tuned to watch this one go from block to home.

A few of our builds, all moving along nicely. 🏗️

There's a moment on every build where you can stand on site and actually picture the finished home, long before it looks like one. Swipe through for a look at a few of our current builds at different stages, from freshly pegged sites to frames going up.

It's easy to only ever see the finished photos and forget everything that happens in between: the site prep, the framing, the hundred small decisions that go into getting a build right. So every now and then we like to pull back the curtain and show the in-between stages across a few different projects, not just the end result.

Foundations down, frame starting to go up - our new build in Delaneys Creek is underway. 🌲

Swipe through to follow the progress so far: the site pegged out on a gorgeous treed block, and the subframe in place on stumps ready for the frame to be erected!

This one's a 2-bedroom elevated home with open-plan kitchen, dining and living, plus a deck to make the most of that bush outlook.

We'll share more as the build progresses, there's nothing quite like watching a block become a home.

"It was suggested to us we look at building a granny flat and so, after some searching we decided on Hoek Modular Homes. They were local, built on site - so we could watch the progress, and were very approachable and personable. They took care of everything from start to finish, very reassuring given we aren't exactly experts in the field! No question was too silly and the tradies working on the house were really quiet, cleaned up after themselves and were happy to explain things to us. We've since moved in and are very happy with our house - still can't believe it's ours! I'd absolutely recommend Hoek if you're looking to build!"

Built for the North QLD:
Why Code Compliance Is Non-Negotiable! 🔨☀️

If you step into our Lawnton yard today, you’ll notice something a little different on the frame line—a whole lot of red!

Our Hoek carpentry team is hard at work framing up modular cabins bound for Cape York. Because these homes are heading north of the Tropic of Capricorn, building them with standard South East QLD specs just won't cut it.

Here’s why that red timber (T2 Red / H2 Red treated pine) is mandatory for North QLD builds:

🐜 The Giant Northern Termite (Mastotermes darwiniensis): Southern QLD typically uses T2 Blue timber, but northern termite species are far more aggressive and destructive. T2 Red is specially treated to withstand these tropical pests.
🪚 Built-In Protection: T2 Red is treated right through to the core, so standard cut ends don't require job-site re-sealing to maintain termite resistance.
📐 Full Code Compliance: Houses built for North QLD must meet strict Australian Building Code standards (AS 1684)—not just for termite resistance, but also with full cyclonic bracing and tie-down fixings to handle severe tropical weather.

Unfortunately, some SE QLD builders sell standard southern builds into North Queensland without upgrading the frame or engineering for the local conditions. At Hoek, every home is custom-engineered and treated for the exact site it will call home.
