Week 3 Let’s Put Timber Back in the Conversation

Every timber building starts storing carbon long before construction begins. As trees grow, they absorb carbon from the atmosphere and store it within their wood fibre.
When used in buildings, that carbon remains locked away for decades.
For Australia’s frame and truss manufacturing sector, this is an important part of the story. Every timber frame and truss manufactured for a new home represents
renewable timber being put to work in our built environment, with the carbon stored within that timber remaining locked away throughout the life of the building.
As Australia works to deliver more housing, our industry has an important opportunity to talk about not only how many homes we build, but what we build them from. Frame and truss manufacturers sit at the heart of that conversation – transforming timber into the structural systems that support Australian homes while contributing to a lower-carbon built environment.
