What’s lurking beneath your decking boards?
Your deck might look great from above, but for how long?
If your deck is less than 400mm off the finished ground hight or in direct contact of water and you aren’t using a H4 F7 primed pine or aluminium subframe then your deck is set to fail.
Standard H3 (yellow/brown) timber might be a cheaper alternative initially but it’s going to cost you more in the long run. H4 F7 primed pine is specifically engineered and designed to resist water ingress, fungal decay and insect activity with 50 year limited warranty you will never have to worry about doing your deck again.
Coupled with the primed pine or H3 for decks above 400mm, is a non negotiable for us. This self adhesive tape completely seals the top of your joist and bearers, ensuring that any water or moisture does not seep into your timber membrane, ultimately leading to a failed subframe. Cheap alternatives such as bitumen paint and rubber membranes are sure to cut years off the life of your deck.
So if you are looking at building a deck in the foreseeable future, remember that the cheapest quote is also likey the most expensive. Build it once and build it right with EFB.
