One of Australia’s Top 100 Women in Construction.
What an incredible honour.
I’m Remonda, and my parents started Blue Haven Pools in 1973. For many years, I wasn’t known as a business owner or a leader — I was simply “the boss’s daughter.”
If you’ve ever worked in a family business, you’ll know that title doesn’t make things easier. Being the youngest child, and the daughter, was next-level challenging.
My journey started in 1993 when I was just 14 years old. Every morning I’d ride to work with Dad, and those car trips became the best apprenticeship I could have ever asked for. We talked about customers, construction, business, people and life. Looking back, those conversations shaped the leader I’ve become.
By 2001, I stepped into a leadership role at Mutual Pools and helped guide its merger with Blue Haven Pools and other businesses over the following decade.
When my parents retired in 2011, I invested in Blue Haven Pools with a clear vision for the future. Between 2013 and 2019, my mission was to bring every Blue Haven franchise back under one roof — one licence, one management team and one standard for quality, customer service and reputation.
It was one of the biggest challenges of my career, and I was also raising three young boys at the same time.
Today, Blue Haven Pools operates across NSW under one unified business, and I’m incredibly proud of what our team has built together.
This recognition isn’t just about me.
It belongs to every customer who has trusted us with their home.
Every employee who has worn the Blue Haven logo with pride.
Every supplier, every trade and every craftsman who turns up before sunrise to build something exceptional.
And every challenge that has pushed us to become better.
Construction has given me a career I love, lifelong friendships and the privilege of helping thousands of Australian families create spaces they’ll enjoy for generations.
To every young woman thinking about a career in construction:
There is absolutely a place for you here.
Lead with confidence. Stay curious. Work hard. Back yourself.
This industry needs more women, more leaders and more people willing to build something meaningful.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey.
Here’s to building what’s next. 💙
