Another older switchboard upgraded to modern safety standards.

This installation now features a tidy new enclosure and premium Clipsal Max9 RCBOs, providing individual safety switch protection for every circuit. The result is improved safety, easier fault finding, and a more reliable electrical system.

This is exactly why it’s so important to test every job before leaving site.

This morning we attended a job to disconnect power outlets for a kitchen renovation, ready for demolition.

After plugging in a power point polarity tester to identify the circuit and verify the correct operation of the RCBO safety switch, this is what we found.

The switchboard had recently been upgraded along with solar and batteries added. During our testing, we discovered an active/neutral reversal on one of the kitchen power circuits.

The concerning part? Everything appeared to be working normally. The kitchen power points were still working as expected, and this fault had been sitting there unnoticed for weeks on one of the home’s most frequently used circuits.

Unfortunately, because of the wiring fault, the RCBO safety switch wasn’t operating as intended. In the event of an electrical fault, it may not have provided the level of protection it was designed to.

Thankfully, the issue was picked up before the kitchen renovation continued and was able to be rectified.

Electrical work isn’t just about making things work. It’s about making sure they’re safe. That’s why every job we complete is thoroughly inspected and tested before we pack up and leave.
