This National Skills Week, we continue to support our people as they develop the life-changing practical skills and experience they need to build the future they want, in conjunction with vocational training.

As part of National Skills Week, we’d like to introduce Luke, one of our valued fourth-year apprentices, who is completing his Certificate III in Landscape Construction.

For Luke, landscaping is a rewarding career and says, “I love that every day is different and I get to work outdoors. I enjoy seeing a job go from nothing to something. I’m able to stand back and look at it knowing I was a part of building it. I also enjoy being able to drive machines, but also being able to get my hands dirty.”

For anyone considering an apprenticeship, Luke’s advice is simple: “Turn up on time and try your best, focus on TAFE and get it done so you don’t have to repeat and do things twice.”

Luke further comments: “You get to be creative and see the results of your work straight away, which isn't something every trade can offer. It can be hard yakka, especially in summer, but the variety of work and the sense of achievement at the end of a project makes it worth it.”

And Luke already has his sights set on what comes next. Once he completes his apprenticeship, he wants to continue building his landscape skills, become a better machine operator, progress through the ranks at Growth Civil Landscapes and, importantly, be a guide for the young blokes coming through after him.

With his First Aid and several machinery tickets already under his belt, and apprenticeship nearing completion, we are proud of Luke and the journey he’s on. We’re delighted to play a part in unlocking life-changing opportunities for our staff through skills, training and hands-on experience.

Every great playground starts with a solid foundation, and remediation works can play an important part of playground upgrades.

Rather than outsourcing, our team is accredited to handle remediation works safely. Our expertise allows us to undertake the remediation in-house, carefully preparing sites before construction begins. It’s a great example of our team going above and beyond to get the job done!

And, of course, we have to give special recognition to their very stylish blue and orange suits! Who said remediation couldn’t come with a little bit of colour?

Contract Awarded: Waverley Park Embankment Slide & Nature Adventure Play Area

We’re bringing Stage 2 of the Waverley Park Playspace Upgrade to life for Waverley Council!

The standout feature? A new embankment slide, seamlessly integrated into the natural contours of the existing landscape. Designed to encourage shared play and exploration, the slide will provide an exciting way for children to engage with the sloped terrain.

And it’s already starting to take shape – demolition, earthworks, drainage and concrete works are complete, the timber steps are now in place, and installation of the embankment slide is on the horizon!

A new nature adventure play area will also be created beneath the existing mature fig tree, providing an engaging space for older children to climb, explore and test their skills. Rope-climbing structure and an obstacle course will encourage problem-solving, sensory exploration and age-appropriate risk-taking in a natural setting.

Once complete, sandstone blocks and boulders, playground fencing, rubber softfall, brick edging, garden beds, new planting and turf will also be featured.

Offering more opportunities for children to move, explore, challenge themselves and connect with nature, creating an exciting new play environment for the Waverley Park community, this space is sure to be a hit!

Contract Awarded: Fingleton Reserve, Bondi Junction

A fresh new chapter is coming to Fingleton Reserve, creating a safer, more accessible and engaging playground for children of all ages. Waverley Council’s Play Space Strategy aims to improve the design, accessibility and play experiences across several local spaces, Fingleton Reserve included.

Visitors can expect exciting new play equipment, natural play elements and areas for imaginative, active and social play - all designed with the community in mind.

Behind every playground is a significant amount of groundwork. Our team’s project works include demolition, earthworks, paving, concrete pathways, playground rubber, park furniture, feature sandstone blocks and boulders, fencing, and complementary softscapes before this space is ready to welcome the community.

Construction is now underway, and we look forward to creating another place where adventures begin, friendships grow and lasting memories are made.

It's hard to believe this will soon be one of Wentworthville's newest destination playgrounds.

Every great park starts with a construction site. Behind the scenes, our team is laying the foundations for a space where families will gather, children will explore, and the community will connect for years to come.

Significant progress has already been made onsite, with excavation, earthworks, drainage and electrical works near complete, and concreting and paving works underway as this exciting transformation continues to take shape.

When complete, Lytton Street Park will feature an impressive Sheoak Forest play structure with towering play elements, slides, swings and nature play, complemented by an outdoor fitness area, sandstone features, lighting, sensory gardens and beautiful new landscaping designed for the whole community to enjoy.

Proudly delivered for Cumberland City Council as part of the Lytton Street Landscape Masterplan, we’re proud to be bringing this exciting vision to life and can’t wait to see this new community space become a place where memories are made.

Our Team Building Day had it all – collaboration, friendly competition, a great feed and plenty of laughs!

Split into four teams, we tackled two challenges: Lego Create to Donate, a charity-focused activity, and Domeworks, a hands-on 3D puzzle challenge, both putting our teamwork, creativity and problem-solving stills to the test (with the ultimate bragging rights and gold medals up for grabs!).

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our Lego Create to Donate activity, where we proudly donated Lego sets, along with a cash contribution to Ronald McDonald House. A special mention to one of our tradespersons, Alex, further strengthening our donation by providing a cash donation himself – what a special gesture indeed!

Hearing how this incredible organisation supports families who have relocated while their child undergoes medical treatment, including a moving interview from a family currently staying at the House, was a powerful reminder of the difference they make every day.

As a ‘home away from home’ for up to 60 families, we hope our donation provides moments of fun, comfort and joy for children and their siblings during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

A fantastic day spent strengthening our team, sharing plenty of laughs and supporting a truly worthwhile cause. We're proud to play a small part in helping an organisation that makes such a meaningful difference when families need it most.
