UEA is proud to announce the successful completion of our 1,180-metre HDD crossing of the Hawkesbury River as part of the Richmond System Wastewater Upgrade. Known for being a highly demanding area, the Hawkesbury presented an extensive number of challenges ranging from cobbles, boulders, fractured Hawkesbury Sandstone, poor fill material, limited project access, compact site footprints and more, keeping the UEA team on their toes. The project did present UEA the opportunity to showcase a range of trenchless techniques and tooling, including pneumatic pipe hammering, the 300T Gallagher HDD rig, dual-rig operations, augering, PDC, hole openers and more. We are appreciative to have completed this project alongside BMD Group and Sydney Water and grateful to have been given the opportunity.

UEA is excited to share this video showing the completion of the Umina Beach HDD Ocean Outfall project. UEA was engaged by Ventia to drill two 450 metre HDDs to house future telecommunication cables. UEA’s scope of works also involved design works and management of the diving works carried out by Dive Co.

We're proud to share the successful delivery of UEA’s scope of work for Package 5B of Sydney Water's Wilton Integrated Servicing Program. Engaged by Vaughan Infrastructure, the UEA team designed, drilled and installed 650 metres of 250mm, 560mm and 800mm PN20 HDPE pipelines. Challenging site constraints required the HDD bores to be designed with just 1 metre of horizontal separation, adding complexity to the construction of this critical drinking water and recycled water infrastructure.

Another project for the UEA team with drilling operations underway for a 290 metre creek crossing of DN1000 PN20 HDPE as part of the Upper South Creek Networks Program. We thank Killard Group for the opportunity and are excited to return to the Badgerys Creek area to delivery another HDD project for Sydney Water.

In 2008 UEA undertook its first Maxi Rig project at Shannon’s Creek. This job was completed for CPB, formally Leighton Contractors, using the Vermeer D300x500 drill rig. The scope of work consisted of four straight bores, each approximately 330 metres. The bores were to house a 110mm communications conduit, two 140mm electrical conduits and a 900mm water main. A great introduction and the first of many large bore projects!

UEA successfully completed a significant ocean outfall project on the Central Coast of NSW, installing two x 101mm ID steel conduits. The two pilot bores were each drilled in two shifts through sandy conditions, with steel casing installed to maintain stability and prevent fluid loss. We are happy to announce that UEA has completed the Menangle Drinking Water project. The scope of works included 450 metres of 335mm HDPE PN20 pipe that will assist in the development of Menangle’s drinking water services, providing capacity for 750 new homes in the area. We are pleased to work alongside once again West Region Delivery Team to deliver this project and we thank them for the continued support.

UEA is now over halfway through its HDD work for Package 8 of the Wilton Integrated Services Program, delivered on behalf of Vaughan Infrastructure for Sydney Water.

Work is progressing well, with the pilot bore and first reaming pass successfully completed. Pipe welding for the upcoming 1,100-metre installation is also nearing completion and is expected to be finished by mid-July 2026.

Our new Rig has ARRIVED!

UEA is excited to share that the wait is over as our new Herrenknecht HK300-Special 300t HDD rig has officially arrived at the UEA yard. Our team is excited to soon be able to see our new innovative rig in action, showing off its advanced engineering, supporting its ability to reduce emissions through its hybrid powered unit while also providing high levels of operator comfort and efficiency. Months of collaboration with Herrenknecht AG has gone into this rig to custom design and shape it for hours of successful drilling. We are looking forward to putting this impressive and ‘Special’ new rig to work and we are excited to showcase what it can do on our upcoming major projects.
