Steep slopes. Narrow access. Difficult properties.

Vegetation management isn't always as simple as bringing in a mower.

Steep terrain, narrow gateways, retaining walls and difficult access can make even relatively straightforward property work a challenge.

Yard & Paddock Services specialises in working on properties where access and terrain require a different approach — from steep-site vegetation management and w**d control through to chipping, material handling and longer-term property recovery.

And recovery doesn't necessarily finish when the vegetation is under control.

With qualified horticultural expertise available, we can also help neglected and overgrown properties move into the next stage — restoring gardens, improving planting, managing w**ds and developing a more usable and manageable property over time.

Bushfire preparation can look very different depending on your property.

There isn't one machine, one treatment or one answer for every site.

On some properties the priority is reducing long, dense vegetation. On others it's breaking up heavy undergrowth, managing accumulated leaf litter and fallen branches, improving access, or moving and recovering material from steep and difficult areas.

Often it's a combination.

Good fuel-load management is about looking at the whole property — the terrain, vegetation, access, accumulated surface fuels and the relationship between those areas and the home — then working out what actually needs attention.

And not everything removed needs to become waste. Where practical, timber can be retained for firewood and kindling, woodchip reused as mulch and suitable organic material put back to work elsewhere on the property.

The objective isn't to strip a property bare.

It's to reduce excessive and continuous fuels, improve access and create a property that is easier to manage and maintain over time.

With fire season ahead, now is a good time to start looking at what your property needs — particularly if steep slopes, difficult access or years of accumulated vegetation make the job less straightforward.

Bushfire preparation looks different on every property.

Across a number of properties throughout the Blue Mountains, we've been helping owners reduce accumulated leaf litter, fallen branches and other surface fuels while improving long-term property management.

Every property has different challenges. Some require reducing fuel beneath mature trees, others need better access, vegetation management or recovery of neglected areas.

Wherever practical, useful timber is retained for firewood and kindling, while organic material is reused around the property instead of unnecessarily ending up in landfill.

Bushfire preparation isn't about making every property look the same. It's about understanding the individual property, reducing unnecessary fuel loads and helping owners build a safer, healthier and more manageable landscape.

Bushfire preparation isn't always about chainsaws and big machines.

Sometimes it's the steady, methodical work that makes the biggest difference.

At this Katoomba property, we're reducing the build-up of leaves, bark and small branches on a steep slope below the house. Tonka makes it easier to move material safely up and down the hill, while the tow-behind stick rake helps gather years of accumulated fuel from beneath the trees.

Where practical, nothing goes to waste. Branches are cut for firewood and kindling, leaves are reused as mulch in the chicken shed, and other organic material is returned to where it can benefit the property.

For us, it's about more than a clean-up.

It's about reducing fuel loads, improving the property and making it easier to manage for years to come.

Bushfire preparation starts long before summer.

Reducing accumulated leaf litter, sticks and fallen branches on this steep Katoomba property using Tonka and our tow-behind stick rake.

Less fuel. Better access. A more manageable property.

Is your paddock looking tired?

Many acreage and horse property owners put up with compacted gateways, bare patches, muddy access tracks and thin pasture because they think it's just part of owning land.

It doesn't have to be.

With our property improvement services to help restore paddocks, horse yards and access areas.

From repairing machinery damage and worn gateways to improving soil condition, overseeding and pasture rejuvenation, our focus is helping properties recover and become healthier, more productive and easier to manage.

Every property is different, so we assess the problem first and recommend the most suitable approach.

Over the coming weeks we'll be sharing some of the equipment and techniques we use to help restore acreage properties across Greater Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

The filming might be a little dodgy over the shoulder 😄 — but the new leaf and stick rake is doing exactly what we hoped.

Working under the trees in a goat paddock at a Katoomba property, we're collecting the heavy build-up of leaves and fallen sticks that was smothering the grass beneath.

Removing the accumulated material will help the area recover while also reducing the amount of dry fuel sitting under the trees.

Another simple addition to the equipment lineup that helps us manage properties more efficiently.

Getting materials in — and timber out.

On steep, rough and difficult-access properties, moving materials can be as challenging as the work itself.

Tonka helps us move tools and materials into difficult areas and bring timber and debris back out — reducing manual handling and making property recovery more practical.
