Old Narrabundah chimney being used for kitchen rangehood was leaking (and unattractive). A coat of paint and a stainless cap was the perfect solution!

Back in Googong following complaints of excessive chimney smoke and letters from Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council.

In a densely populated suburb like Googong it’s important to keep your chimney clean, the fireplace burning hot and the neighbours happy!

This week we’ve provided several clients with certificates of service as evidence of having their chimney cleaned and inspected.

Call-out to Kambah after complaints of excessive chimney smoke.

Chimney needed a good clean but main issue was not enough air in the fireplace (burning too cold) and not enough kindling to properly ignite the hardwood fuel. As part of our service we lit a roaring fire to show them how it’s done 🔥🔥🔥

Great work by the client for taking action to fix the problem and do right by their neighbours.

This badly stained wall and path beneath the chimney was likely caused by burning unseasoned (green) wood.

It’s all flammable and this one smells awful!

Firewood should contain below 20% moisture content, and is best purchased from your local commercial firewood supplier.

Disappointment for these Burra homeowners as their flue was found to be leaking, non-compliant and too dangerous to continue using.
It’s a reminder to always use qualified and experienced tradespeople, and to get your chimney serviced in summer when the fireplace is not in use. We will work with the client to get these defects rectified as soon as possible.

After years of patiently waiting we finally got to sweep one of the fireplaces at Barton Court in Barton, opposite the Brassey Hotel.

Designed by renowned architect Kenneth Oliphant in 1934, the nearly 100 year old building was Canberra’s first ever apartment complex.

Back then, Canberra had only one form of heating and that was through wood fireplaces, so every apartment in the 2-storey complex has its own open fireplace.

Does your chimney sweep climb the roof to check the chimney and service the cowl?
The cowl (cap) on this two-storey home in Reid was completely blocked, forcing smoke back into the house.
