Why web-building spiders are easier to treat

If you've got webs around your home, here's some good news: web-builders are the spiders our treatments work best on.

They spend much of their time tucked away in cracks and crevices. When we treat those spots, the spider brushes against the product with its whole body, not just the tips of its legs, so it picks up a strong dose. They can also take in product by recycling treated web material.

Why we look for spiders first, then spray

When it comes to spider control, direct contact gets the fastest results.

A spider that is sprayed directly absorbs a strong dose through its outer shell, and it usually dies within minutes. A spider that only walks across a dry, treated surface picks up much less product, so it takes longer and is less certain.

That's why our technicians don't just spray walls at random. We:

From the outside, this post looked solid. Underneath, it was a different story.

See the dark, crusty, soil-packed material through the damaged section? Those are termite mud workings, the mix of soil, saliva, and chewed timber that termites use to line their galleries and shelter while they feed. Live termites are still visible in the damaged area.

Why this matters:
Termites eat wood from the inside out, so the surface can look perfectly fine while the structure is being weakened. By the time mud workings show, the damage is often well advanced.

Warning signs to watch for:
🔸 Mud workings or soil packing in cracks, splits, or damaged timber
🔸 Paint that is bubbling, cracked, or peeling
🔸 Hollow-sounding wood when tapped
🔸 Crumbling or soft timber near ground level
🔸 Small pale insects in damaged areas

What to do:
✅ Avoid further disturbing the timber
✅ Take photos and note the location
✅ Call a licensed pest professional straight away
✅ Check nearby posts, fences, and decks too

Why do termites build them?
Termites need moisture and protection from open air and predators. These tubes, made of soil, saliva, and debris, work like private highways from the ground to their food source: your timber.

What to look for:
🔸 Thin, pencil-width mud trails on posts, walls, or foundations
🔸 Tiny pale insects inside or near broken sections
🔸 Soil build-up around metal brackets, joins, or timber bases

What to do:
✅ Don't disturb or destroy the tubes
✅ Take photos and note the location
✅ Call a licensed pest professional for an inspection

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Northam Race Club for such a fantastic day!

From the moment we walked through the gates, we received such a warm welcome. The food was great, the tables were lovely, the music was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.

Everything was so easy and well organized, and our whole team, along with partners and families, had such a wonderful time.

TERMITES CAN BE HIDING IN YOUR TREES!

Think termites only attack houses? Think again. 👀

Termites can also be found in trees, particularly where there is damaged, decaying or weakened timber.

What signs should you look for?

🐜 Mud around the base of the tree — it may appear a different colour or texture compared with the surrounding dirt.
🐜 Mud-filled cracks or hollow sections — cracks, cavities or hollow areas in the tree can sometimes become filled with mud-like material.
🐜 A stressed or lac luster looking tree — changes in the tree’s overall appearance or condition may be worth investigating.

⚠️ If you notice these signs, don’t ignore them. Termite activity in a tree can be worth investigating, especially if the tree is close to your home, shed or other timber structures.

Spot the signs early and get them checked before the problem gets closer to your property.

THINK YOU’VE FOUND “WHITE ANTS”? TAKE A CLOSER LOOK! 👀

They’re called white ants, but they’re actually termites and knowing the difference matters.

Termites can quietly cause damage to timber, flooring and other parts of a property before you even realize there’s a problem.

🔎 Here’s a quick way to tell them apart:

ANTS
• Narrow, pinched waist
• Bent or “elbowed” antennae
• Usually darker in colour

TERMITES
• Straight, thick body
• Straight antennae
• Usually pale or creamy in colour
• Can cause damage to timber and other cellulose-based materials

⚠️ Spotted small pale insects around your home? Don’t assume they’re harmless ants.

The sooner termite activity is identified, the sooner you can work out what’s happening and what needs to be done.
