Does your home switchboard look like this? 🔥

Electrical fires account for roughly 50% of house fires in NSW and most of those happen within the switchboard.

Why you ask?

Over the years as people renovate their house they add new circuits like an Aircon, Solar, Induction cooktop or an EV charger.

While adding extra cabling to an old switchboard with an old main switch and fuses the load increases and the cabling starts to run hot with some of the connections being over 50 years old.

Not only that, without safety switches you risk being electrocuted without any protection.

Switchboard upgrades generally cost anywhere from $1000-2500 depend on the job.

We use premium safety switches like Hagar, Clipsal and NHP (not cheap no name brands many sparkies use)

We remove and replace any asbestos boards where we can to protect customers and the job gets completed by a sparky with 20 years experience (we don’t send out a 3rd year apprentice and hope for the best)

Looking at buying a WOKE electric car?

There’s a few things you should probably know before getting a home charger setup.

There’s a lot of company’s offering very cheap installs to get the job but then sacrifice on safety that can be potential fire hazards later. (Trust me I’ve pulled apart their installs)

Ev’s use ALOT of power from your switchboard (roughly 32Amp) and anything that uses a lot of power generates heat.

So when the install is rushed or not done properly it can be dangerous.

Cables not twisted together properly, old switchboard not upgraded with cables jammed into them, no isolator (so if there was a fire it’s hard to turn off by the firries), cheap safety switches that may not trip if there is a fault.

Generally for a proper install prices start at $990 plus the charger if it’s done properly.

Electrical fires account for almost 50% of house fires in NSW. Old switchboards are one of the main contributors due to missing safety switches, corroded fuse cartridges and deteriorated wiring.

Upgrading your switchboard generally costs between $1000–$2000 (excluding major wiring upgrades).
