Vale Murray Isles – 3 August 2026
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Murray Isles, a highly respected Naval Architect, Marine Surveyor and longstanding member of Tasmania’s maritime community.
Murray devoted a lifetime to the maritime industry and leaves behind an enduring legacy, particularly through his contribution to vessel design and the many vessels, owners, builders and maritime professionals he supported throughout his career.
Never afraid to take on a challenge, Murray was generous with his knowledge and experience and was always willing to offer advice, encouragement and support. He was a strong advocate for Tasmania’s maritime industry and for the people, ideas and initiatives that helped strengthen and advance it.
Murray’s technical expertise was matched by his genuine willingness to help others. His passion for the industry and commitment to vessel owners, builders and fellow maritime professionals left a lasting impression on all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
On behalf of everyone at Kedge, we extend our sincere condolences to Murray’s family, friends, colleagues and the many people across the maritime community whose lives he touched.
The maritime industry has lost a respected Naval Architect and Marine Surveyor, a mentor, an elder of our maritime community, and a friend.
Rest peacefully, Murray.
Thank you for your support, your advice, your friendship and the contribution you made over a lifetime in our industry.
Your legacy will endure through the vessels you helped create, the people you guided and the maritime community you helped shape.
You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
