This is what proper preparation looks like 👌

The old paint on these weatherboards had badly deteriorated, so simply sanding them lightly and painting over the top wasn’t going to produce a lasting result.

We’re stripping the failed coatings back to solid timber, ready for thorough sanding, priming and a complete new paint system.

It’s a time-consuming process, but there’s no shortcut when you want to restore old weatherboards properly. The finish is only ever as good as the preparation underneath it.

We see a lot of painters using a mini roller on these types of doors for speed and convenience.

There’s nothing necessarily wrong with that, but we still prefer the old-school way — a quality brush and taking the time to lay it off properly.
It might take a little longer, but on detailed doors like these, we think the brushed finish just looks better. 👌
Sometimes the old ways are still the best ways.

The difference between a proper stain job… and just painting timber with stain. 👀

This one had been coated heavy by the last painters — no wipe off, no ragging back, just slapped on and left looking like paint.
Timber stain is meant to enhance the grain, not bury it.
We stripped it back and did it properly:
✔️ Applied evenly
✔️ Ragged off the excess
✔️ Let the natural timber show through the way it’s supposed to.

The end result speaks for itself. Quality prep and technique always win. 🎥👇
