We’ve still got a long way to go - but I’ve got an important housing update to share.
20% of our target to deliver 53,500 social and community homes by 2044 target is now either already delivered or underway.
That means more places to call home for our most vulnerable Queenslanders will be available, sooner.
After a decade where housing supply went nowhere near meeting demand and almost 2,000 social homes were sold by the former Labor Government, we’ve got almost 7,000 social and affordable homes underway across Queensland.
Because of our State Budget‘s record $5.7 billion investment into getting more homes out of the ground, we’re on track to deliver over 2,000 social and community homes per year by the end of our first term alone.
We’re tackling the housing crisis by putting more into delivering housing supply than any government has before, and there’s plenty more to come.
Thank you to all our builders, community housing providers, and everyone from our Department of Housing and Public Works for your hard work to make this milestone happen 🏠✅
