Why knock it down instead of renovating? 👉

Sometimes an old house can be saved, and sometimes the honest answer is that starting again makes more sense, for the budget, the layout and how the home will live for the next 50 years. What you can't replace is the spot itself: established trees, the street, and that view across toowoomba.

A sloping block can feel like a problem before you build. It doesn't have to be.

This one had a fall across it, so we cut and fill and build a platform. A sandstone block retaining wall along the side to give the home and the yard a flat, usable base. The result is a single-level home where everything sits comfortably, with the bush right at the back fence.

And YES! the lawn is edited in.

There's a moment in every build we never get tired of. 🏠🌱

It's when the frame goes up and a slab suddenly turns into a home. You can stand where the kitchen will be, look out where the back deck's going, and picture Sunday mornings there.

That's where we're at in Clifton. A few weeks ago it was steel, formwork and a lot of black Downs soil. Now there are walls, trusses and a whole lot of excitement on site.
