We’re proud to announce that Civmec’s Newcastle facility has achieved Level 2B certification under Steel Sustainability Australia.

Our Newcastle facility handles heavy fabrication, manufacturing and assembly for some of the country’s most complex projects. Embedding sustainable practices across an operation of our size and scale is no small task. Reaching Level 2B confirms these practices are part of how our Newcastle team works every day.

Major projects and governments increasingly expect their supply chains to be sustainable, and this certification gives them independent assurance that we meet that standard. As one of Australia’s largest heavy engineering and fabrication businesses, we see it as our role to lead by example and help set the standard for our industry.

Thank you to everyone at our Newcastle facility who made this happen. It’s another step in our sustainability journey, and in building a stronger, more sustainable Australian steel industry.

R U OK? Day reminds us of the importance of checking in with those around us and starting meaningful conversations with friends, teammates and loved ones.



Across our facilities and project sites, teams marked the day by coming together, sharing a meal and taking the time to have conversations that can make a real difference.



During August and September, we launched our Mental Wellbeing Champion Program, inviting employees to nominate colleagues who positively influence those around them through their actions, leadership and everyday support. The response was outstanding, with nominations received from across our sites and offices, highlighting the many people who contribute to a strong and positive workplace culture.



Today, we are proud to recognise our Mental Wellbeing Champions. These individuals embody Civmec's values and set an example through their commitment to looking out for others and creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.

At Civmec, we know successful projects come from genuine collaboration with our clients.

Thank you to the BHP Car Dumper Leadership team and the wider project team, particularly the onsite fabrication team based at our Henderson facility. The teamwork, professionalism, and commitment shown by everyone involved have played a significant role in the successful delivery of both CD3 and CD4.

We also want to acknowledge Stephen Hynes and Ian Bingham, who are retiring after long careers, having stayed on this project from CD3 right through to completion of CD4. People with that depth of experience are rare, and they won't be easy to replace. Thanks for everything you both put into this and enjoy the well-earned retirement.

On Tuesday, we welcomed Hon Andrew Giles MP , Federal Minister for Skills and Training, and Hon Josh Wilson , Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy and Member for Fremantle, to our Henderson facility to see how Civmec are training the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

The Ministers toured our Fabrication and Assembly Halls and met our apprentices training in steel fabrication, welding and pipefitting.
They also spent time with two of our trainees from our 'Balance the Scales: Women in Paint and Blast' program.

Civmec continues to grow its apprentice intake and we're actively looking for local candidates ready to build a career in a skilled trade.

It's been a great fortnight for engaging with future talent. Last week we welcomed students from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and this week we hosted the Curtin Engineers Club for a tour of our Henderson facility.
Students had the opportunity to see firsthand how Civmec operates, ask questions, and see what a career in engineering looks like beyond the classroom.

We're proud to showcase the kind of work engineers get to be part of once they graduate, and it's always exciting to think about the fresh ideas and innovation the next generation will bring to the industry.
