Navy commissions newest warship HMAS Eyre!

Civmec Defence Industries (CDI) congratulates the Royal Australian Navy on the commissioning of HMAS Eyre.

This is a proud moment for CDI and the shipbuilding community in South Australia and Western Australia, and we recognise the contribution of the skilled workforce and industry partners who built and supported the ship.

The Arafura class OPVs are modern 80 m and 1,625 tonne multi-role ships that will support the Royal Australian Navy to deliver enhanced maritime security, strengthen regional engagement, and provide vital support for humanitarian and disaster relief operations.

HMAS Eyre was the final OPV to be built in South Australia.
Production has now transferred to CDI’s integrated steel shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia. Delivery continues at pace on the project, with the remaining four Arafura class OPVs under parallel production in Henderson.

Civmec’s local Port Hedland team deliver a significant piling scope to support the development of a major project in the Pilbara region.

Our project teams have been strongly supported by the manufacturing capability within our Port Hedland Facility. Pictured are just some of the piling cages fabricated at our facility.

In total, an estimated 3,000 tonnes of rebar steel will be processed to fabricate piling cages for this project, all of which will be delivered to site to support onsite construction activities.

This highlights how our Port Hedland facility plays a critical role in supporting project teams across the Pilbara region, providing scalable fabrication capacity and maintenance services close to where our clients need it most, while also creating and sustaining local jobs.
