Did you know we have sandstone quarries right on the fringe of our diverse little town? Because I certainly didn’t!
As previous customers of Griffith Bricks and Pavers, we approached former owner Rob Vardanega to source some “rocks” for our property… only to discover the size I wanted was technically considered a boulder, not a rock.
With all the beauty and variation of natural stone, Rob suggested we head out to the quarry and hand-select each piece ourselves. So off we went with a 20-tonne excavator serving as my shopping trolley, sourcing freshly detonated sandstone. An experience in itself!
What I didn’t expect was that the trip would become about so much more than sandstone. During the drive, Rob mentioned he’d been thinking about selling the business… and apparently, unbeknownst to me, we were in the market to buy one.
Anyone who knows Tom knows that once he gets an idea in his head, he’ll find a way to make it happen. Which should serve us well as new business owners. And yes, if you are in the market for locally sourced sandstone rocks or boulders we continue to offer that same service.
