πŸŒ³πŸ† TWO FINALIST NOMINATIONS! WOW WHAT A NIGHT! πŸ†πŸŒ³

From humble beginnings in 2022 to being recognised among some of the Peel region’s outstanding businesses in 2026. What a journey it’s been! πŸ’š

Last night, we were incredibly proud to see Hayes Tree Care announced as a finalist in TWO categories at the 2026 Alcoa Peel Business Excellence Awards!

πŸ† Medium Business Award (8–15 Employees)

πŸ’š Community & Social Impact Award

When we started Hayes Tree Care four years ago, our vision was to build more than just a tree care business. We wanted to create something that valued its people, cared for the environment and made a genuine difference in our community.

Being recognised in these two categories means so much because they reflect exactly what we’ve worked to build.

To our incredible team, this recognition belongs to you! Your hard work, dedication and commitment to our values are what make Hayes Tree Care what it is today.

To our customers, community, industry partners, friends and families, thank you for being part of our journey and supporting us along the way.

A big thank you to the Peel Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Alcoa, and congratulations to all the other finalists doing great things across our region.

Four years in, and we’re only just getting started! 🌱

From our roots we grow. πŸ’šπŸŒ³

πŸ† WE’RE A FINALIST! πŸŒΏπŸ’š

We’re incredibly excited to share that Hayes Tree Care is a finalist in the Business for Good Award at the 2026 7NEWS WA Community Achievement Awards! πŸŽ‰

Being recognised for the work we do within our community means a lot to our whole team.

For us, being a business for good is about much more than the work we do with trees. It’s about supporting our local community, caring for our environment, helping protect wildlife, supporting local organisations and businesses, sharing our knowledge and finding ways to make a positive difference across the Peel region. 🌳🐦🌱

We’re incredibly proud of what our team has achieved and grateful to everyone who has supported Hayes along the way β€” our customers, community partners, local businesses and the wonderful organisations we get to work alongside.

Now we need your luck! 🀞

Keep your fingers crossed for us and winning thoughts in your mind! πŸ’šπŸŒΏ

🌿πŸ₯Ύ Spring is Here β€” Time to Explore Peel! 🌼🌳

If you love getting outdoors, spring is one of the best times to explore the beautiful walking trails around the Peel.

As the weather warms up, our bushland starts to come alive with wildflowers, birds, wildlife and fresh new growth. 🌸🐦

Here are a few places to put on your walking list:

🌳 Len Howard Conservation Park, Mandurah
A beautiful 6km trail through bushland and wetlands beside the Peel Inlet. Keep an eye out for towering Tuarts, native wildflowers, birds and maybe even a quenda. Spring is a particularly lovely time to visit.

🌿 Creery Wetlands, Mandurah
A great spot to wander through wetland habitat and enjoy the native vegetation and birdlife.

🌊 Lakeside Loop, Yalgorup
A 5km loop around Lake Clifton, with paperbarks, melaleucas, peppermint trees and Tuarts β€” plus the amazing thrombolites and spring wildflowers.

🌳 King Jarrah Walk, Lane Poole Reserve
Heading inland? You'll find beautiful jarrah forest, sheoak, banksia and plenty of natural scenery around the Murray River. Spring brings seasonal wildflowers too.

🌼 Island Point Reserve
A lovely place to explore coastal bushland, with spring wildflowers adding plenty of colour to the landscape.

And don't forget β€” you don't have to be an experienced hiker. There are plenty of shorter, easier walks around Mandurah and the wider Peel region.

Next time you're out walking, slow down and look up. 🌳

Notice the old trees. Look for wildflowers tucked into the bush. Listen for birds. See what wildlife you can spot.

Our natural environment is pretty special β€” and it's worth taking the time to appreciate it. πŸ’š

🌳 WA Is Talking Trees β€” And We’re All For It 🌿
There’s currently a huge focus across WA on increasing tree canopy, reducing urban heat, and creating greener communities β€” and at Hayes Tree Care, we love seeing it. πŸ’š
But one thing we always like to remind people… urban greening isn’t just about planting new trees 🌱
It’s also about protecting and properly managing the mature trees we already have. Established trees provide enormous benefits:
βœ”οΈ Shade & cooling
βœ”οΈ Wildlife habitat
βœ”οΈ Cleaner air
βœ”οΈ Stormwater & erosion control
βœ”οΈ Character to our suburbs
Unfortunately, too many mature trees have been lost over the years, and once they are gone, it can take decades to replace the benefits they provide.
That’s why, at Hayes Tree Care, we always focus on retention over removal wherever it is safe and practical to do so. Proper pruning, maintenance and professional assessment can often save a tree and extend its life for many years. 🌿
One of our team members Iain is a Diploma-qualified Arborist who assists clients with planning applications where trees are involved, including formal tree retention applications. This helps ensure trees are properly assessed and considered as part of the planning process.
We also offer a range of services designed to help conserve your trees rather than remove them. From habitat pruning and structural support to root management and other tailored solutions, we’ll always look for ways to retain a tree where possible.

🌿🌊 Our Amazing Mandurah Wetlands, Estuary & Coast 🌊🌿

One of the things we love about living and working around Mandurah is the incredible diversity of our natural environment.
From the ocean and coastline, to the Mandurah Estuary, wetlands, rivers and surrounding bushland, our region is home to an amazing variety of plants, trees and wildlife. πŸ¦πŸŒ³πŸ¦†
You may have noticed that the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council (PHCC) is now 5 Rivers NRM.
The new name reflects the five critical rivers that feed our region's ecology β€” an important reminder of just how connected our waterways, wetlands, bushland and urban environment really are.
And that connection matters to us as arborists.
πŸ’§ Healthy rivers support healthy groundwater.
🌱 Healthy groundwater helps sustain vegetation.
🌳 Healthy vegetation supports our magnificent mature trees and urban canopy across Mandurah and Murray.
🐦 And healthy trees and waterways provide habitat for the wildlife that makes our region so special.
It’s all connected.
At Hayes Tree Care, we believe looking after our environment isn't just about planting more trees. It's also about protecting the trees, vegetation and habitats we already have and understanding the wider environment they depend on.
As arborists, we love seeing local frameworks evolve to better protect our shared environment and the natural systems that support it. πŸ’š
Next time you're walking along the estuary, exploring a wetland or enjoying one of our local bush trails, take a moment to look around.
Our rivers, wetlands, waterways, trees, wildlife and coastline are all connected β€” and they're all worth looking after. 🌿

🌿 Australia looks better with a full bush. 🌿

Love getting out on the weekend to walk, hike and explore our beautiful WA bushland? 🌳πŸ₯Ύ

The bush gives us so much β€” shady trails, fresh air, wildlife, wildflowers, birds, beautiful places to explore and a connection to the natural environment.

But our bushland is under pressure, and The Fuller Bush Project is giving people a simple way to help bring it back and make sure future generations can enjoy the same beautiful bushland, wildlife and walking trails that we do today. πŸ’š

At Hayes Tree Care, we believe trees should be preserved and celebrated β€” and we love supporting initiatives that help protect and restore our natural environment.

Mandurah Wildlife is preparing for bird flu.

Hayes Tree Care donated their time and expertise to lop trees over our water tank and several aviaries. This was an important first step in preparing our property for bird flu. We are extremely grateful to Hayes Tree Care for their generosity and assistance. With this work completed we are now ready to install protective roofing over the aviaries.

As you know, we do not receive government funding to run Mandurah Wildlife and rely on fundraising to cover our costs. (Sign the petition to help us change this: www.change.org/stepupforwildlife )

We recently set ourselves a goal to raise $10 000, to cover the costs of preparing for bird flu. We’re delighted to report that we’re almost halfway there, with $4817 raised. Thank you to everyone who has donated, we are so grateful.

Our fundraising continues, to raise the remaining $5183. We have roofing, fences and gates to build, signage, equipment and PPE to purchase.

There is still time to donate : giving.mandurahwildlife.com.au

Once again, a huge thank you to Hayes Tree Care. You know who to call if you have trees to lop.
