We’re proud to be recognised as the winner of the 2026 Wellness in Infrastructure Award for Excellence in Wellness – Small Business!

In partnership with Switch 2 Infrastructure, Carey Civil Contractors has challenged traditional recruitment pathways by creating meaningful opportunities for mid-career women to transition into the construction and infrastructure industry.

With Sam Cooper (our general manager)championing the initiative, four women stepped into genuine contract administration roles, and we’re proud that all four have continued their careers in infrastructure. Two have progressed into permanent positions, one has moved into another industry placement, and one continues to be part of the Carey Civil team.

For us, this achievement is about more than recruitment. It’s about creating an inclusive workplace where people feel valued, supported and confident to contribute. We believe that investing in our people, building supportive teams and fostering a culture where everyone feels comfortable speaking up are essential to a stronger industry.

As a business, we’re proud to demonstrate that meaningful change doesn’t depend on the size of an organisation, but on the commitment to do things differently.

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Carey Civil Contractors has been named a finalist for the Excellence in Wellness Award – Small Business at the 2026 Wellness in Infrastructure Awards.

This recognition means a lot to us because it reflects something we genuinely believe in — looking after our people and creating opportunities for people to build a career in civil construction.

Through our partnership with Switch 2 Infrastructure, we welcomed four career-changers into the civil construction industry, giving them the opportunity to learn, develop and become part of our team.

For us, wellness is about more than a policy or a program. It’s about people, culture, opportunity and making sure everyone goes home safe and supported.

It’s a great example of what can be achieved when industry gets behind people and gives them an opportunity.

This week, we finished the civil works component for the upgrade of the Boronia Train Station. This included demolition of existing areas, drainage, services, concrete works, pavements and landscaping. A successful job all in all

MELTON LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL — JOB COMPLETE

What an effort from the Carey Civil Contractors team over the past three weeks.

For close to three weeks, 24/7, our crews worked around the clock delivering major rail and road infrastructure works as part of the Melton Level Crossing Removal Project.

Our scope included:

• Major bulk earthworks
• Ground remediation
• Drainage
• Electrical and communications conduits
• Pavement construction and build-up
• Asphalt and concrete works
• Kerb and footpath construction
• All delivered under our contract and within a demanding program

The result — the works were completed on time, on budget and, most importantly, safely, with zero incidents or injuries.

A massive thank you to our client NWPA for the trust and support throughout the project, and to all of our valued subcontractors who worked alongside us to deliver the result.

But most importantly, a huge thank you to the men and women of our team.

Working 24/7 for close to three weeks takes an enormous amount of commitment, teamwork and determination. Our people continually stepped up, worked long hours and delivered when it mattered.

This is what our business is built on — great people, strong leadership, teamwork and getting the job done.
