⚠️Not your usual drainage issue 💩, but one that made a big difference once sorted.
We recently attended a childcare centre that had been experiencing an unpleasant smell coming from the drainage system within their sandpit area.
With no obvious cause from the surface, we carried out a CCTV drain camera inspection to get a better understanding of what was happening below ground.
The inspection revealed a build-up of algae and organic material within the drainage system, likely encouraged by the warm, humid conditions and constant moisture around the sandpit.
We removed the build-up, thoroughly flushed the drainage system and treated the affected area to help restore proper drainage and eliminate the smell.
While the drain hadn't completely blocked, the build-up was restricting its capacity and creating an unpleasant environment around an area regularly used by children.
A slightly unusual issue, but a good example of why investigating the cause of a drainage problem is just as important as fixing it.
