What actually goes into keeping a basement dry?

More than most people see.

From the blinding layer and waterproofing through to the reinforcement and final structural shotcrete wall, every stage works together to manage water ingress and protect the finished basement.

Right beside the canal at CHARM, this is a pretty important part of the job.

The goal is simple. Keep the water out and give our clients a basement that stays dry.

This Chevron Island project sits just metres from the canal, making waterproofing one of the most important parts of the build.

The blinding layer is the first step in the waterproofing system, creating the surface needed before the structural wall is built.

Once the waterproofing system is in place, dowels and reinforcement are installed to prepare for the structural shotcrete wall.

The structural shotcrete forms the permanent retaining wall, locking the reinforcement and waterproofing system together.

Every stage works together to help deliver a strong, watertight basement that’s built to perform for years to come.
