Bennett + Bennett recently secured approval for an additional dwelling at 1 Colville Street, Highgate Hill, within an existing 8-unit complex.

Situated in a well-established inner-city suburb, the site benefits from excellent active transport connections, nearby public transport, and access to local green spaces. These attributes make it well suited to a range of residents, including students and young professionals.

By demonstrating how the proposal responds to its surrounding context and local planning framework, approval was achieved without the need for additional car parking or private open space.

The outcome supports increased housing supply in an established suburb while making efficient use of existing residential land.

Exciting projects are currently underway with Traders In Purple. Bennett + Bennett engaged across a growing portfolio of landmark residential developments throughout South East Queensland.

Current projects include Rivara in West End - a premium riverfront address featuring apartments, terrace homes and penthouses designed around wellness, connection and quiet luxury, complete with more than 2,900sqm of resort-style amenity and wellness spaces.

We’re also working across Lighthouse in Newport, a waterfront community offering luxury apartments, garden villas and townhomes designed to embrace natural light, marina living and connection to Moreton Bay.

Also underway is Tydal in Woody Point, a collection of elevated bayside apartments positioned on one of the peninsula’s highest points, with expansive coastal views, refined interiors and resort-inspired living designed to capture the relaxed Moreton Bay lifestyle.

We’re proud to be working alongside Traders In Purple across projects helping shape thoughtfully designed residential communities across Queensland.

Last month Bennett + Bennett were proud to receive Plan Sealing endorsement for the stunning CASCADE Robina. As our long time client, Andrews Gold Coast, wrap up construction for two of Robina’s newest landmark towers, we were trusted with ensuring this project received plan sealing approval in a timely manner, allowing several key milestones such as titles and PC to keep on schedule, and ensuring owners receive the keys to their new homes as soon as possible.

Congratulations to the Andrews team for their upcoming delivery of another one of a kind project, and thank you to all involved in achieving this critical milestone.

Last month, our Junior Digital Engineer (Spatial), Lani, attended The University of Queensland Industry Night, connecting with students and industry professionals from across the geospatial and environmental sectors.

As part of the event, attendees worked through real-world case studies, with Lani sharing insights into how industry professionals approach spatial workflows before presenting team findings.

Lani also had the opportunity to speak with students interested in GIS careers, discussing pathways into the industry, the importance of gaining practical experience through internships, and what her role involves day-to-day.

With around 40–50 attendees, the evening provided a valuable opportunity to support emerging professionals, share industry knowledge, and build connections within the geospatial community.

Regional towns continue to play an important role in supporting local farming and food security across Queensland.

Bennett + Bennett are proud to have supported the approval of two new grain bunkers at 117–125 Campbell Street, Millmerran within the Toowoomba Region. Since the beginning of our involvement in 2024, we have provided our Town Planning, Development Compliance and Surveying services.

It has been rewarding to see this project progress from concept through to approval, and we are proud to have played a role in delivering regional infrastructure that will support the storage and transportation of produce from farm to table.

Chris Dawson and Matt Strahley had a great two days at the FCON26 – Future of Construction Summit in Brisbane the other week. The energy in the room was undeniable - this is an industry that's moving fast and knows it.

AI and technology dominated the agenda, with a strong consensus that we're past the pilot phase - the focus now is on scaling what works, driving real productivity gains, and building smarter, more connected projects from the ground up. Brisbane 2032 was also a key focus, with several sessions exploring the scale of infrastructure and construction activity required in the lead-up to the Games, as well as the long-term benefits for Brisbane and Queensland. While there was a strong sense of optimism about the opportunities ahead, there was also recognition of the substantial work required to deliver on these ambitions.

Overall, the summit provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the industry.

A proud moment for six of our team, who recently returned to New Zealand to celebrate the completion of their Bachelor of Surveying degree at the University of Otago.

As part of our Graduate Program, these emerging professionals are already making meaningful contributions across projects, building capability, gaining hands-on experience and learning from experienced mentors across the business.

Supporting early career development is something we value deeply at Bennett + Bennett, and it’s fantastic to see our graduates recognised for all the hard work that has brought them to this moment.

Congratulations to Brayden Foote, Michelle Dempsey, Emily Donlevy, Georgie Bruce, Claire Snelling and Tony Mildon, we are proud to be part of your journey.

We are also looking forward to returning to the University of Otago in July to connect with the next cohort of graduates and share more about careers in surveying, spatial and geospatial services.
