Just back from Lismore, where we donated our time/skills and materials wherever we could.
The Lismore people are staying positive but they sure need more help. Most houses are getting fully gutted, muddy water just below the ceilings on second storey homes, 32ft of water is absolutely incredible.
Spent most of our time helping rip out kitchens and bathrooms,
Re stand and plumb up hot water units after receding water dragged them over, replacing split copper pipes and capping off fixtures.
Almost nothing is salvageable in these homes, even the plasterboard and floorboards are getting ripped up.
It’s especially tough on the elderly, but the community and volunteers are working wonders.
It’s a long road back from this one.
