Another City of Gold Coast project completed ✔️

Our OSM Concrete team has recently completed pedestrian pathway and kerb ramp upgrades across five separate sites in Hollywell for the City of Gold Coast.

The works included removal of existing concrete, excavation and base preparation, construction of new pathways and kerb ramps, concrete tie-ins and reinstatement — all while working around existing roads, properties, services and public areas.

The finished result provides smooth, durable and accessible pedestrian connections that integrate neatly with the surrounding streetscape.

Multi-site projects like Hollywell are a great example of the council and civil concrete work our team delivers across the Gold Coast.

💧 WET vs DRY — Which is your favourite?

Is it worth the cost to seal exposed agg concrete?

To see the difference, these examples show three colourings — Charcoal, Natural Grey and Warm Earth — all dry and wet.

When dry, exposed aggregate generally has a softer, more natural appearance. When wet (or sealed) creates a deeper, richer finish.

Choosing exposed aggregate? It’s not just about picking a colour you like! 🏡

The final look of exposed aggregate comes from the combination of the stone AND the oxide colour in the concrete — and the same aggregate can look completely different depending on how those two are paired.

There are a few other things worth considering:

• How the colour works with your home, roof and landscaping
• The size and amount of stone exposed
• How different the aggregate looks wet, dry and sealed
• Whether lighter or darker colours are best for the area
• Natural variations between batches

And here on the Gold Coast, colour isn't purely cosmetic either. Darker finishes can get noticeably hotter in our summer sun — something worth thinking about for pool surrounds and other areas where you'll be walking barefoot. On the flipside - very white mixes show the dirt more.
