Retaining wall done in sanctuary cove

Built out of trend stone masonry block wall from Apex masonry.

Vertical steel Starter bars fixed every 400mm to catch each block then horizontal steel placed every second course for extra strength .
We then core filled with concrete and fixed the caps.

100mm Agi pipe was placed behind the wall then 20mm drainage stone on top for extra drainage and 50mm drainage pipe was placed through the wall so any excess water can get away without putting pressure on the wall .

I dug out foundation and added steps as there was a good slope on the ground
And added the trench mesh and poured 5 cube of concrete and added the starter bars .
Built the blocks and filled with Concrete

We had to knock down existing wall as it was leaning over and wasn’t safe as there wasn’t enough steel in the wall to support it

We go a 5 tonne excavator to knock it down and rebuild it

The latest retaining wall I have for a good client.

We had to knock down the existing wall which was cracking cause of heavy trees behind it and there wasn’t much steel in the foundation or in the block work to help sustain the wall .
