The Divorce Architect Framework™ It is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together. I am so very fortunate.

With a career primarily rooted in entrepreneurship, and as a business owner for my entire working career, encompassing property design, development, construction, and consulting services, I have cultivated a comprehension of interpersonal dynamics and conflict resolution. This journey has honed my ability to navigate complex situations, emphasizing the significance of both counselling and mediatio

n in fostering constructive dialogues. Within my private practice, I am privileged to leverage my extensive experience in facilitating numerous mediations arising from the natural course of business interactions. Holding registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department and obtaining NMAS accreditation equips me with the necessary specialized credentials to focus on dispute resolution. This enables me to facilitate the outcomes of conflicts and disputes within my practice, with a focus on achieving fair and amicable outcomes for all parties involved, supporting their self-determination in conflict resolution. Through a blend of experiential learning and formal education, I have developed a nuanced understanding of mediation techniques and the art of fostering collaborative resolutions. My commitment to facilitating meaningful dialogue and fostering mutually beneficial outcomes underscores my approach to mediation services. During the inception of Shifting Tides Counselling & Mediation, I was approached to join two boards within the counselling sector:

ACA | Australian Counselling Association
- Not for profit, peak body for counsellors and psychotherapists | Australia | 16 000 members
- October 2023, I was elected President and Chair of the association

AIPC | Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors
- Primary education body for the counselling profession
- Governance Board member

What resonates with my life journey, is that everyone has something to work through at some point in their lives. Whether personally through the journey of self-discovery and improvement, relationship breakdowns and how to navigate the process moving forward or other conflicts that require specialist skills to support your choices and decisions, one thing is for certain, things happen, priorities shift and circumstances change and in many ways, they mirror the waterways of the coast that continually change with “Shifting Tides”. I look forward to supporting and working with you.

If you’ve found me recently, there’s a good chance it was through The Divorce Architect™ but divorce is only one part of what I do here at Shifting Tides.

I work with individuals, couples and families through all kinds of seasons of life.

Sometimes you’re navigating a relationship breakdown. Sometimes you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed or a little lost.
Sometimes you and your partner need help finding your way back to each other.

And sometimes, you can’t quite put your finger on what’s wrong, you just know you’d like someone to talk to.

You don’t need to be in crisis, and you definitely don’t need to have it all figured out before you reach out.

Whatever has brought you here, we’ll meet you where you’re at.

ARE YOU FEELING STUCK?
Not sure where to start?

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come to counselling.

Lately, I’ve been seeing many people who aren’t necessarily in crisis, they simply feel stuck, uncertain or unsure about what comes next.

Sometimes life changes. Relationships shift. Work becomes difficult. A decision feels too big. Or you simply know that something isn’t quite right, but you can’t see your way through it.

That’s often where counselling can help.

A conversation can give you the space to slow down, talk through what is happening, explore your options and find some clarity about your next step.

You don’t need to arrive with the answers.

Sometimes you just need somewhere to start.

If this sounds like where you are right now, give me a call or book a conversation.

Conflict can leave you feeling stuck, replaying the same conversations, getting nowhere, and wondering whether the only option left is to escalate things.

It isn’t.

Mediation creates a structured space to slow the conflict down, understand what actually needs to be resolved, and work towards practical decisions without handing control of the outcome to someone else.

Whether the issue involves separation, parenting, property, workplace tension, neighbours, business partners or family disagreements, the principle is the same:

You don’t have to fight it out. You can figure it out.

Sometimes the most powerful first step isn’t taking a side.
It’s changing the way the conversation is happening.

If you’re thinking, “This is exactly where I am right now,” mediation may be the next step.

Start with a conversation. Let’s work out what resolution could look like for you.

Separation and divorce may have legal consequences. But first, they are deeply human experiences.

We often think of divorce as something that begins when lawyers become involved.

In reality, it usually begins much earlier, in the conversations that aren't happening, the distance that has grown, the decisions being avoided, and the uncertainty about what the future might hold.

That space deserves just as much attention as what comes later.

Because how you navigate the beginning can influence everything that follows, emotionally, practically, financially and for your family.

Good therapy isn't simply listening while someone recounts what happened during their week. Nor, in my view, is it about finding a label for every behaviour, emotion or personality trait.

The work is often about helping someone stand far enough away from their own story that they can finally see the patterns within it.

Sometimes in practice, we really feel validated for the work we do. So much so, I wanted to share one of my recent clients and her story. Not because her story is extraordinary. But because, in many ways, it is incredibly ordinary. And I suspect there are people reading this who will quietly think:....

I've seen families spend hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting over issues they could have resolved with the right support at the right time.

I've also seen separated couples sit in the same room months later, attending their child's graduation, birthday or wedding without bitterness because they chose a different path at the beginning.

That isn't luck.

It's design.

When people first sit in my office, they rarely arrive because they want a divorce. They arrive because they're exhausted. Months, sometimes years, of walking on eggshells. Conversations that never seem to go anywhere. Arguments that repeat themselves like an old movie. The silence between two peopl...
