One of our key considerations in designing the Gnarabup Project has been to improve community access to Gnarabup Beach and Gas Bay. The project will create a variety of public recreation and play spaces ranging from landscaped open space and improved beach access paths, to a new community park.

The 2011 bushfire devastated the land and natural habitat along the Gnarabup coastline, destroying all of the vegetation in the path of the fire. While vegetation has regrown since these bushfires, the regrowth represents only the hardiest of the endemic species. The environment on the site remains degraded in terms of habitat suitability for local fauna and species diversity.

The extensive landscaping strategy for Gnarabup Project seeks to contribute to the natural coastal environment and promote a healthy habitat for local flora and fauna. Our landscaping strategy uses local natural materials and employs sustainable practices, in addition to planting a greater variety of native species of local coastal character which are beneficial to the coastal heath ecosystem as habitat for endemic fauna.
