We’re extremely proud to see our Managing Director Jessica Berry featured on the cover of Business News, sharing her insights on how the brick shortage is driving change across WA’s building industry.

As demand for alternative building methods grows, Jess highlights how modular construction is helping address industry challenges, improve efficiency and deliver quality homes across Western Australia.

A great feature recognising the role of innovation in shaping the future of housing. 👏

This edition’s cover features Fox Modular and Pique managing director Jessica Berry, who speaks with Claire Tyrrell, p46.

Inside, Adrian Rollins details how the rapidly expanding defence sector is adding to the squeeze on WA’s labour market.

Gary Adshead suggests ratepayers deserve better than poorly behaved councils.

Next, Sam Jones speaks with a co-founder of a medical startup hoping to revolutionise how cardiac events are diagnosed.

Isabel Vieira reports on an inner-city w**e store that has delivered a record year of growth on tailored service.

Then, Nadia Budihardjo speaks with the co-founder of advocacy platform Global Citizen, Michael Sheldrick, about his return to Perth.

Tom Zaunmayr then looks at moves by WA’s olive growers amid plantation sales and global shortages.

Tim Treadgold wraps up the News with a report on what a cancelled public listing might mean amid the scramble to monetise AI.

In this edition’s first Feature, Mark Pownall delves into fund managers, with new players emerging in the small WA sector. In the second Feature, Claire Tyrrell addresses the challenges facing WA’s residential builders.

As always, you’ll also find plenty to read in our regular sections: Cultural Industries with Ella Loneragan; Property with Claire Tyrrell; Economics; Contracts and Tenders; Board Moves and Directors’ Interests.

Lots to love, and still room for more.

Dillon’s Drift started with our Kardonay, then was shaped around its coastal location. The modules were offset to point the living spaces and master suite towards the best views, with raked ceilings, skylights and a corner window making even more of what was already a pretty spectacular spot.

Now it’s taken out HIA Great Southern Modular and Prefabricated Housing of the Year.

A good starting point can take you a long way.

Timber Ridge started with our Kardonay, then its owners made it their own. An extended island bench, more pantry space and a north-facing deck all helped shape the home around the way they wanted to live and the Margaret River landscape around them.

Now it’s taken out HIA South West Modular and Prefabricated Housing of the Year.

Small Footprint. Big Win.

Woodland Retreat started with our Shorehouse One, then Barry made it his own. A smaller footprint, some smart changes and a home designed to sit comfortably alongside the existing residence and amongst the trees.

Now it’s taken out HIA South West Affordable Housing of the Year.

Coastal? Yep.

Regional? Absolutely.

Now for the one you might not expect. This is modular in Scarborough. Because on the right site, there’s no reason the same way of building can’t work right here in metro Perth. Not every suburban block will suit. But some might surprise you.

PIQUE gets around.

Got questions about your metro block? We’ve got answers.

From the coast to the country.

Building much of the home off-site can make regional projects a whole lot more achievable. Which means you can spend less time thinking about where it’s easiest to build, and more time thinking about where you actually want to live.

First stop, the coast.

Modular and coastal living make a pretty natural pair. The home is built before it ever reaches site, which opens up some pretty spectacular places to put one. And when the location looks like this, the house doesn’t need to steal the show (even though it does).

Next stop: regional.

The PIQUE Perspective.

Modular myths, busted.

Let’s clear up a few misconceptions about modular homes…

🏠 “MODULAR HOMES ALL LOOK THE SAME.”

Think again.

Different layouts. Distinctive façades. Considered finishes.

Modular can be anything but cookie-cutter.

🏠 “MODULAR MEANS COMPROMISING ON STYLE.”

Quite the opposite.

From considered design to refined finishes, every detail can be thoughtfully curated to create a space that feels distinctly yours.

🏠 “YOU CAN’T CUSTOMISE A MODULAR HOME.”

There’s more flexibility than you might think.

At PIQUE, enjoy a complimentary interior design consultation to bring your vision to life. From the initial concept through to the finishing touches, we can customise your home from start to finish- creating a space that’s uniquely yours.

🏠 “MODULAR DOESN’T FEEL LIKE A REAL HOME.”

Why shouldn’t it?

It’s not how a home is built that makes it feel like home. It’s how it’s designed, finished and lived in.

Modular, reimagined.
