Josh Burnett and Cody Bailey are smashing out their final block at CQU Gladstone and getting closer to the finish line!

Josh and Cody have put in plenty of hard work throughout their apprenticeships and have done a fantastic job on their pot belly projects, showcasing the skills and techniques they’ve developed along the way.

A big part of their development has been the support and knowledge they’ve received from the CQU Fabrication teachers, who have helped Josh and Cody build their skills, understand the trade and improve their fabrication techniques throughout their training.

As ATQLD apprentices hosted to Walz Group , the boys have been getting the best of both worlds — plenty of hands-on experience at Walz, backed up by the knowledge and skills they’re picking up through their fabrication training at CQU.

Great work, boys! Keep smashing it out and finish strong!

Congratulations to Ella on completing her Certificate III in Business Administration!

We're proud to have supported Ella throughout her traineeship and are excited to officially welcome her to the team in a full-time Administrator role. 🎉

Ella has officially completed her Cert III in Business Administration with her host company, Walz Group , and has now accepted a full-time administrator role with them. We are so proud of what she has achieved & excited to see what the future has in store for her!

Congratulations to Jack Isaacs on successfully completing his Boilermaker Apprenticeship and securing a full-time position with Walz Group

Throughout his apprenticeship, Jack has embraced every opportunity to learn, develop his skills, and grow as a tradesperson. His commitment and willingness to learn have helped him reach this significant milestone and become a qualified Boilermaker.

Reflecting on his apprenticeship journey, Jack said, "I've been lucky to work alongside some great tradespeople who took the time to teach me and pass on their skills. I'd also like to thank Walz for continuing to give me opportunities to learn new things and upskill throughout my apprenticeship."

ATQLD Senior Field Officer Ray Cooper said, "Jack has been great to work with from day one. Coming into his apprenticeship at just 16 years old, he's grown a lot over the years, both personally and professionally. He's always been easy to deal with, willing to learn, and has built his confidence along the way. It's been rewarding to watch his development and see him reach this milestone. Congratulations, mate – you've done a great job and should be proud of what you've achieved.”

Lachlan has wrapped up his 4-year Boilermaking apprenticeship with Walz (Mackay), a great achievement that reflects his steady effort and dedication to the trade.

Thanks to all the tradesman & supervisors who have helped Lachlan develop his skills along the way.

Lachie will be sticking around for some site work with Walz, before heading off on his next adventure — travelling to Japan!

This year marks 50 years since the founding of Walz Construction by Colin and Desley Walz.

What began in 1976 with a small subcontracting opportunity at Gladstone Power Station became the start of a business built on hard work, strong relationships and great people.

While the business has evolved over the years, the values it was founded on remain unchanged.

As Walz Group celebrates this milestone, we thank everyone who has been part of the journey over the past 50 years — our employees, clients, suppliers and families, past and present.
