Winter is not a closed season for gorse and blackberry control across Central Victoria. The Eco Blade's cut-and-paste method applies herbicide directly to the cut stump rather than to the leaf surface, which means it is far less dependent on weather conditions than conventional spraying. Treatments that rely on foliar uptake struggle in cold, wet conditions, the Eco Blade largely sidesteps that limitation.
The practical restrictions in winter are ground access and plant condition. Saturated soils can make steep or clay-heavy sites inaccessible to machinery, and plants under severe frost stress can show reduced herbicide uptake. On sites with reasonable access, winter treatment across the Macedon Ranges, Hepburn Shire, and Mount Alexander Shire remains viable and is often a good use of the window before spring growth accelerates the problem.
