Brick by Brick: Jaylyn Jacobi joins Str8up bricklaying as a new Apprentice 🙌🙌

Our Regional Manager (VIC & TAS), Natalie Ladd, had the pleasure of visiting the Str8up Bricklaying team on site and witnessing their impressive work firsthand in Werribee.

Shaun Pepyat (pictured left), business owner behind Str8up Bricklaying, kicked off his bricklaying career at just 17! His mate got offered an apprenticeship but didn’t want it, so Shaun jumped at the chance. He smashed through his apprenticeship and went on to build his own successful business. Legend move!

Since starting his own business, Shaun has successfully hired and trained at least three apprentices through Brick and Block Careers.

Today marks another milestone as Shaun welcomed a new apprentice, Jaylyn Jacobi. Jaylyn had been working as a labourer in the industry with another company and was eager to become a qualified bricklayer. After speaking with his consultant Troy at Opendoor, and thanks to the strong partnership between Opendoor and Brick and Block Careers, Josie Beven, our Industry Engagement Officer (VIC & TAS) was able to connect Jaylyn with Shaun, who was enthusiastic about meeting Jaylyn and bringing him on board.

Jaylyn officially signed up with MEGT today and will begin his studies at The Gordon once he completes his probation period.
