With more electric vehicles on the road, I’ve been installing a lot more EV chargers lately — and it’s easy to see why.

Having the right charger at home makes a big difference. Most can be sourced through your vehicle dealer or online to suit your specific make and model.

But just as important as the charger itself… is how it’s installed.

The best setup is a dedicated circuit wired specifically for your EV charger. This allows your vehicle to charge efficiently, protects your battery, and avoids overloading your existing circuits.

Plug-in adaptors might seem convenient, but they’re not designed for consistent high-load charging.

Smoke alarms going off for no reason… even after changing the batteries?

That’s usually a sign they’ve reached the end of their life.

I was at a property this week where the owner had exactly that issue. The house itself was only 8 years old, but the smoke detectors installed were nearing their 10-year lifespan — so the alarms were doing exactly what they’re designed to do.

A lot of people don’t realise it’s the age of the detector that matters, not the house.

We replaced them with new units featuring built-in 10-year lithium batteries and a full 10-year warranty — no more battery changes and no more random beeping in the middle of the night.

One of those simple upgrades that gives real peace of mind.

- UPGRADE FOR SAFETY & STYLE - Old halogen down lights are still floating around and they could be burning more than just a hole in your pocket, they can quite literally start fires.

Replacing old halogen down lights to new LED fittings is a smooth transition. You’ll also light up your space a lot better creating a more appealing atmosphere. If there’s a room where you don’t want it as bright, adding in a dimmer is an easy fix.

Some houses also fell prey to the various government schemes of changing your halogen globes to free LED ones. However all you got was a poorly manufactured, cheap led globe that doesn’t really last or give enough light, but also can still generate enough heat to cause problems in your roof space.

Upgrading to new sleek and stylish LED fittings can be very uplifting to your home. No more dark corners as the spread of light is better. Or if you want a more subtle light, there are recessed down light that offer a narrower beam of light. With a variety of fitting styles I can help you find fittings that compliment the style of your home or blend in with the ceiling.
