Leadership at Manteena has always been about more than a title.

Our Directors have each made a significant contribution to shaping Manteena into the business it is today, bringing their own experience, perspective and commitment along the way.

What continues to stand out is how connected they remain to the work. Whether it’s contributing to projects, supporting our teams, sharing their experience or helping navigate the challenges that come with construction, they continue to be actively involved across the business.

That approach to leadership says a lot about Manteena: experienced and approachable, while still staying close to the people, projects and work happening on the ground.

A lot has changed over more than four decades, but that connection to the work has remained.

Different backgrounds. Different experiences. One Manteena.

Diversity has been part of Manteena’s story since the beginning, and today our team continues to bring together people with different cultures, experiences and perspectives.

For us, inclusion is about respecting those differences, creating opportunities and building a workplace where everyone can contribute.

Because the strongest teams are built from different perspectives.

A year ago, we celebrated a milestone that meant far more than a number, 45 years of Manteena. 🎉

It was an opportunity to bring together the people who have been part of our story, reflect on how far we’ve come, and celebrate the relationships, projects and experiences that have shaped Manteena since 1980.

Looking back, the day was a great reminder that while buildings and projects are a big part of what we do, it’s the people behind them who have made the journey possible.

Here’s a flashback to 45 years of Building Excellence.

A journey to remember. An achievement to be proud of.

After 10 demanding days, Manteena Director Peita de Boer and her son have officially completed the Kokoda Trek, an incredible achievement that called for resilience, determination and the willingness to keep moving forward when things got tough.

For those who know and work alongside Peita, this achievement will come as no surprise. The commitment, perseverance and strength she brought to the Kokoda Trek are the same qualities she brings to Manteena every day: leading with determination, supporting those around her and seeing challenges through.

The journey also carries special meaning through Manteena and Zeroed's support of the Zero 79 Foundation and the important work they do with veterans and families of the fallen.

Congratulations Peita and Matt on an achievement you’ll carry with you for a lifetime. Welcome home, you guys did it! 👏

Some journeys carry more meaning than the distance travelled.
At Manteena and Zeroed, we’re proud to support the Zero 79 Foundation and the work they do with veterans, families of the fallen, and those carrying experiences that can be difficult to put into words.

For Peita de Boer, that connection is now taking on a very personal meaning. From 7–17 August, Peita and her son are walking the Kokoda Trail, following a path shaped by extraordinary courage, endurance and sacrifice.

As Peita reflected, Kokoda is a story of people overcoming hardship, solving problems and pushing forward in some of the most challenging conditions imaginable. Those values still resonate today, and they’re a big part of why the work of Zero79 Foundation matters to us.

Peita, we’re behind you and your son every step of the way. We’re incredibly proud to support this journey and the purpose behind it.

130+ reasons to be proud of the journey so far.
Over more than four decades, Manteena, our projects and our people have received 130+ awards and industry honours, recognising everything from construction excellence and innovation to safety, leadership and individual achievement.

It’s a number we’re proud of, but what matters more is the story behind it: the people who built the projects, the partnerships that made them possible, and the standards carried from one generation to the next.

At Manteena, we believe the future of construction is strengthened when people are supported, encouraged and given the opportunity to learn from those who have come before them.

Through the Australian Training Company’s Women in Construction Pathway Program, we are proud to provide meaningful workplace experiences that connect young women with experienced professionals across the Manteena Group. These opportunities allow participants to engage with our teams, gain practical insights into the industry and build confidence as they explore the many career pathways available in construction.

Mentorship is a cornerstone of this experience. Our team members bring not only years of experience with Manteena, but also a wealth of knowledge and values passed down through generations of the Manteena family. By investing their time, sharing their expertise and providing guidance, they help ensure valuable industry knowledge is preserved and passed on to the next generation.

The involvement of former cadets demonstrates the impact these opportunities can have. Having progressed through a Manteena cadetship, they can offer a relatable perspective and firsthand insight into the pathways available within the industry. Their journeys help participants see what is possible through commitment, learning and the support of a strong team.

Behind the scenes, James Hoskins plays a key role in coordinating placements and maintaining strong relationships with program partners. His support helps ensure each placement is well planned and welcoming, providing participants with a positive and meaningful experience from the moment they step onto site.

Programs like this are about more than creating opportunities. They are about building connections, sharing knowledge, fostering confidence and supporting the next generation of women in construction. By investing in people, mentorship and meaningful experiences, we are helping shape a stronger and more inclusive future for our industry.

The Cabramurra Redevelopment is one of those Manteena projects where the location became part of the story.

Delivered in demanding alpine conditions, the project reflects the planning, resilience and teamwork required to build in one of Australia’s most challenging environments.
