Precast concrete plunge pools and fibreglass pools look identical once they are in the ground. Same aesthetic, same backyard appeal. But there is a massive hidden cost nobody mentions until you’re halfway through your pool build: The Crane.

Because a fibreglass pool weighs around 500kg, you can usually hire a standard crane for about $2,000. A concrete pool shell weighs closer to 12,000kg. That requires a heavy-duty crane that will cost you around $11,000.

That is $9,000 gone from your landscaping budget before you’ve even filled the pool with water. Always check your crane quote before you sign a contract!
