Having worked in the McDonald Smith building at the West End of Fremantle we undertook an exploration of the original design intent by the original architect Herbert Nathaniel Davis. Underneath the layers of beige and brown highlights is a wonderful original facade.

An alterations and additions project in Cottesloe, reshaping an existing two storey home to better connect with the garden and the way it’s lived in every day. Spaces open up, light captured throughout the day, and the outdoors becomes part of the rhythm of the home.

This Subiaco home explores how a single storey dwelling can give more back to landscape than it takes.

Living spaces extend into green, shaped by existing trees and the changing light across the day.

The street presence is familiar, grounded in the character of Subiaco, while within, a quieter condition emerges. A private refuge for family life.

In the heart of Fremantle, Essex Street reworks a heritage home into a small multiple dwelling.

An extension to the existing residence grounds the project, while a secondary dwelling is carefully suspended above. Old and new are held in balance, each reading clearly yet working together as a cohesive whole.

Drawing from the texture, tone and character of surrounding laneways, the project sits comfortably within the streetscape. It contributes quietly, adding moments of activation and opportunities for social interaction.

A considered density, shaped by context and connection.

Nestled at the edge of John Forrest National Park, Twin Wall House is shaped by its landscape.

Two walls define the project. They protect, frame and direct. Between them, a series of spaces unfold quietly, opening toward distant views while remaining grounded in their setting.

Rammed earth, formed from the site’s own rock and soil, gives the house its weight and presence. A material that is both structure and memory, holding the colour and texture of its surroundings.

We’ve been working on a new family-focused tavern in Perth’s southern suburbs, designed to connect directly with a beautiful all-ages park and playground. A place for everyone to gather, relax, and enjoy.

We’re proud to see the Gen Y Demonstration Housing Project featured in the latest issue of Architecture Australia.

Under the dossier "What are architects doing about the housing crisis?", Linda Cheng explores new housing ideas beyond simply increasing supply.

In her article "Efficiency vs Supply", she references Gen Y as a build-form typology that could be adapted across existing housing stock. A compact model that can be retrofitted into a vast supply of larger homes.

This project, developed over a decade ago, still holds relevance today. As the housing crisis worsens, we believe in practical design solutions that address affordability, density and adaptability.

Thank you and for the feature.
