Spring has officially arrived — and the weeds definitely got the memo.

Around Frankston we’re starting to see gardens waking up again, which means the little weeds that barely seemed to move through winter can suddenly get away from you.

One of the easiest spring jobs is simply catching them early. A few small weeds now are a much easier problem than established weeds competing through a garden bed later in the season.

Our tip: don’t wait for the whole garden to look weedy before tackling them. If you’re already walking past them, pull the handful you can see. Five minutes here and there genuinely adds up.

There’s mowing the lawn — and then there’s actually finishing the visit.

Before we leave a BroadLeaf property, we’re looking at the whole presentation: edges finished, hard surfaces blown down, gates put back as we found them and the work photographed.

Our regular clients also receive communication around their scheduled service, arrival and departure, so they’re not left wondering whether we’ve been or when we’re coming.

Most of that isn’t particularly exciting gardening.

Not every good garden job needs a dramatic before & after.

Sometimes the goal is actually the opposite.

When we maintain a property regularly, we’re not waiting for the lawn to become knee-high or the edges to disappear before doing something about it. We come back, keep on top of it, tidy the details and leave it ready for another couple of weeks.

It might not make for the most outrageous transformation photo — but that’s kind of the point.

A well-maintained garden should never need rescuing. 🌱

Happy Father’s Day 💚🌿

BroadLeaf Gardens has given me plenty of hard work, long days and sacrifices, but a huge part of why I work so hard is for my favourite little helper, Ava.

Being her dad is, without question, the most important job I’ll ever have. Getting to share moments like this with her — teaching her a little about what Dad does, getting our hands dirty together and watching her proudly “help” — makes all of that hard work worth it.

One day she’ll be much too big to follow Dad around the garden, so I’m going to enjoy every minute of having my smallest BroadLeaf crew member beside me. 🌱

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandads, father figures and everyone else filling that role today.
